Hey Jeny,
What books did you use to study for the exam, I'm planning on taking my boards in March. I feel I'm still not ready and I need some advice on what to do.

I'd also recommend putting your resume on careerbuilder i recently put mine on there and have been getting 10 or more calls a day. Even when i first graduated there were jobs that contacted me off careerbuilder

First of all, what environment do you want to work in? Acute care,
rehab/outpatient, subacute care, home health or schools/pediatrics.
The jobs are there, you need to decide where to focus your energy.
I work as a tech in a SNF/nursing home, and the PT people do very well. HH pays really well too. Good luck!

i am the owner of a growing home health agency in NM and my PT is stressed to the max as he is so busy. Right now we have 125 patients and have moved into 3 other towns. I know Fla. is not close to NM but if you need a job......we have one available.. If you already have a job, then any PTA who reads this can post an inquiry here.

I currently am working as a PTA in a HH setting in Olympia, WA. I used to work as a traveling PTA and have a current license for the state of NM. I would be interested in talking to you regarding your opportunity.

I can't find a job. I did not work for 7 years due to father's death and 1 year later mother died. Before this (father and mother's death), my father lost his brother in train accident, his sister to a tumor in the brain, then his other brother died. After mother's death, 2 months later my nephew shot himself....I can continue with this horrific time in my life, but you can see why I couldn't cope. I thought I was a STRONG person. But, I fell apart. Too much going on in such a short time. Now I have this big gap. To be realistic I did lose alot of my knowledge and skills. What do I do to get my skills and knowledge back? Where can I go and work for free just to re-establish my skills, knowledge and documention? I really need everybody's input and advice on this. Please reply?

You can try nursing home and skilled nursing facilities. They are usually in need of therapist due to turn over rate. Also they pay more. Hope that helps you.

When I graduated from my PTA program I went into traveling therapy. I did that for 2 years and it was awesome. There are travel companies that will work with new graduates. If you are flexible and would like to see the country then go for it.
