I am interested in pursuing PA school and am looking for PAs to shadow in Chicago. I'm also looking for advice on what sort of employment or volunteer experiences to look for that will give me experience with direct patient contact. Any advice is appreciated!

Thanks!

Usually, PA's most commonly are previous EMT's, nurses, radiologists, etc. I'd recommend at least an associate degree in Nursing, which will give you that patient care, if not a nursing assistant position at least. and of course working as an EMT would help too...anything that gives you direct patient care such as those would help. I am a nursing student and i am also planning on going into the PA program.....and nursing really helps to put things into perspective and allows me to gain knowledge in regards to patient care.

Take care and good luck!
