Larry- I'm amazed you'd want to leave Brockway! It's such a sweet little town. If you haven't checked into Dubois Regional or Brookville Hospital, they're both great facilities. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. I just left there about 8 months ago and may be coming back. |

Under 100K in a war zone? You gotta be kidding!!! I have friends in Blackwater that make more - and BOTH positions are life threatening.... From the looks of the poster here, anyone of of you could find positions stateside for same pay. That is, unless you like the action or are thrill seekers/adrenalin junkies. Pay me decent hazard pay and i'll join in...hoowah |

I stumbled upon this, I guess you could call it "blog" regarding the PA job in Afghanistan. I cannot help but comment. My message to whoever it is that is offering this "job" and to those who are considering it: if you are looking to serve America and are willing to get paid peanuts while doing so, then go for it. If there was ever low ball ($$$) job offer, this is it. For those of you who think that by taking this job that you might find yourself in on some sort of Indiana Jones jolly adventure, you better think again. Living life in this 'opportunity' would be alot more like living inside a HOT sand dune with the added comfort of barbed wire all around you, oh yeah, and with death threats daily. Bad as it sounds, it would be worth doing and I myself would even consider it but only from a patriotic standpoint. I am not writing this to disuade anyone but the dreamers who could wind up terribly disappointed by jumping onto this one without being realistic about it. This one will not be 'fun' nor lucrative. |

I looked into the job posted here last year. I have to say I almost fell out of my chair laughing when they told me what the pay was. Especially considering how much the company is making off of the contract! They are trying to get a medical professional for chump change. With that said, I am a former Navy Corpsman, Paramedic and a Residency trained ER-PA. I have been in the ER for 5 years now and I have to say....I'm bored. I would be interested in finding something exciting, different or at least interesting to do. Anyone have any ideas?? Any help appreciated. Thanks |

Not money but helping the soldiers fighting a real war. At least pretend you care about them before you take a job there. |

I think you forget what this job is all about. Taking care of wounded soldiers who are risking their lives so you can have your boring job making good money. At least act like you care about them instead of the money. |

At least act like you care about them instead of the money. The job is about taking care of the fat contractors who are getting the fat pay checks. The Military PAs are taking care of the wounded soldiers. No offense, I'm an Army PA writting this from Afghanistan and I wouldn't let anyone else work on my soldiers. Ohh and I get paid more than that as a Captain. |

I have a Veteran-owned small business that is recruiting for a PA in Afghanistan. The pay would be around 175K with excellent tax breaks. It would be supporting the civilans that are supporting our troops. Check out www.onsiteohs.com or email me at kyle.johnson@onsiteohs.com. Thanks
