I have an undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Washington, a top school in the country. Unfortunately, because of the extensive program, my GPA is around 2.7 which is actually above average for that program. Should I even consider applying to PA school? Or is it hopeless? I have about a year's experience in a healthcare setting working with patients. Any advice? |

If becoming a PA is really your passion, you should apply. Programs don't look solely at your GPA - they take into consideration your healthcare experience, background information, and above all your performance at the interview. If you have the minimum pre-reqs, but really convey your passion for the profession and your committment to helping the underserved you have a better chance at getting in than someone who looks great on paper but is bland in person. * They also love to see volunteer/community service on your application |
