No you just gotta be able to make the arkansas bellhole, 6G Test either up or down and the branch, Questar gives the 12".250 5/52 bead no grind test on a 6G up here in Wyo, you gotta be pretty slick to make that one. my Advice just practice and try different things eventually youll find what works for you and watch the other welders and ask questions. thats my advice.

Go to school to learn the right way to weld pipe and structure.
Its an 18 month course at the community college here, and the graduates are ready to start the real world.
I think you need at least a year welding structure to prepare you for pipe.
My two cents.
