witch machines are you comparing? personally I`m a lincoln man. Old school pipeline weldors prefer lincolns because of their smooth arc characteristics. Old sa-200`s and modern " classic" models, have copper windings. miller has aluminum. Maybe their new larger machines have copper. I use a lincoln classic 300, and expect it to last a lifetime..

I like the Miller Trailblazer Pro 350 Diesel because it has AC/DC capability but I like the style of the Lincoln SA-250. I appericiate the info. If I can ever get on with the 798 and advance to Welder, I'll probably get an SA-250 or Classic 300.

Personally, I'm a Miller guy, because I've always thought that Miller had a more focused and smooth arc. The engines in the old diesel SA 250's we're better than the ones in the Big 50 Millers, but that's changed here the last couple of years. I've got 3 machines, two Millers and a Lincoln, and I use my Millers more because they fine tune better. As far as the duty cycles, they are comparable between the two if you're comparing the same size machines. Most Millers are only going to get 60% if you're running them @ 200 amps or more. Nowadays with the advance of electronics, it's more of a personal preference than anything. I'll weld a cat's ass to a plate glass window with either of them, I'd just rather do it with a Miller.

Thanks for the reply.I am really glad to hear that.I know that a lot of companies want let you use anything but a Lincoln.I would like to find out why.

I'm looking at a 2002 Lincoln Classic III with 4000 hours on it. It's on a Dodge Ram and comes with about 300' of lead. Anyone care to engage me in discussion about what it's worth?

I love my pipe-pro got a good price on it 10400 same as a 200d.Ifeel it is a more verstile machine and it puts out 400 plus amps it has excellent arc it downhills as good or better than any lincoln ive ever used I will say it took me awhile to find its sweet spot but once I did well what can I say other than I am satisfied with my money spent it is a woderful tig unit as well best there is just my opinion

They all have there perks but Lincoln is used because when they break down 75% of your parts can be picked up at any automotive parts store easy to work on and will run as long as you are willing to throw money at it

i agree with dio up there .....i just bought a sa 200 from the 60s all copper ..it welds like a dream. you wont know what the diff between aluminum and copper till you weld with a copper coiled machine ...its like melting butter so smooth.

i was looking at a 64 redface so the guy let me weld with it man u are right it welded like a dream smoothest arc and start but it was on its last legs mechanically i mean this thing was old so i settled for a sa250 from early 90s almost cherry that way i can run fluxcore and arc gouging without any hassles i do know what u mean about the copper though i just wish it had been a little less used ,too bad i couldnt put that genset on my newer machine, back then was as true dc as it gets

Ive been pipelining for 36 years and Ive used the same 1952lincoln 200 shorthood for 32 of them. You try to find a guy that can say that about a miller, or anything else for that matter, they are all good machines but you start welding 12+ hours a day 6 days a week you better buy yourself a lincoln sa 200, the older the better, just like the running it...lol...

i asked the same thing 30 years ago ! they told me if i needed 100%duty cycle your workin too hard !!!! so i bot a lincon sam 400.first one lasted 14 years.had to replace a water pump. stil running my 2 nd one. miller portable, ya right!! also check the repair shops. 10 millers mabey a lincon. their shop machines are ok but portable are AC with dc converter. 90% of your work is dc. also millers have aluminum windings. any more questions?

well, my sa200 can burn 3/16" rods for 8 hours in a 10hr day, so much for that 60% duty cycle!! Actually, duty cycle as measured by LINCOLN, is at MAX output, wich is well over 200 amps DC, i guess if u were burning rods over 1/4" u may run into that 6 out on 10 minute thing, but not likely in normal work.
