Ok guys need some help here im at my wits end with this dang machine. It will run good for awhile then it starts cuting out real bad then it dies. It'l start back up but it only runs for awhile then dies again. Seems like everytime i kill it it takes more spins to get it runin again. I have just changed the mag, rebuilt the carburetor, all new plugs & wires, new pc board, & ignition switch. Anybody have any idea what else could be wrong? |

fuel pump or gravity feed ? either way check for fuel output from the pump and the tank. i had one machine an old hobart i took the fuel line loose at the tank and pulled out a small limb! other kinds of trash can get sucked in to fuel line and starve it for fuel |

sounds like the intake/exhuast manifold might have a big leak at the block. Run

I have a 84 model 200 and i had the same problem with mine and changed most of the same parts you have changed. I ended up puttin about 1000 dollars worth of parts and labor!! I was on a job in Fort Worth and realized what it was,,, I had put a new carb. and fuel line and the fuel line was about 6 inches to long and on a 200 it is gravity fed. The line needs to run down from the bowl straight to the carb no loops and "U" shapes in it... I cut mine and made it a straight shot to the carb and had zero problems after that. Hope this helps!! |

might want to change your points and be especially careful to get the gap right cant remember off the top of my head what the spec for the gap is but my machine did the same thing and that fixed it right up |

do all of the above, moisture or carbon tracking in distributor cap is a good place to look also, once you got er going again, keep some fuel stabalizer in it i use seafoam, get it at most good part stores,it will pay for its self and save you some shame in the future. |

Do you have both fuel (gasoline) and fire (spark plug) when it stops running? |

Ive had 4 welders with the same problem. they sit on a farm or wherever and varnish or rust the tank. the best thing I found to do with a machine that has sat a long time is to rebuild the carb and clean the sedament bowl. then put a good fuel filter on the fuel line to prevent the needle and seat in the carb from sticking. anything in steel tanks or rusty lines will find their way into the needle and seat if their is not a good filter even if you cleaned the carb out and assume everything is clean. |
