pipefitter or carpenter?

I am currently 19 years old when i was 16 i always wanted to be a pipefitter and join the union for the local 488. I welded quit a bit for my age in school and out of school. My dad is a welder in the local 488 and a couple of his friends are welders and pipefitters. So when i was in school i got registerd for pipefitter application and could not get a job at the time. so my dad gave me the direction of being a carpenter so i got registerd and worked so far for about a year and a half and going for first year in may. And so far i think its kinda boring for commercial work. But i do have an amazing name for myself and im a extremly hard worker and every company i have been with told me im good. But wanna know if i should go with pipefitting or just stick with carpentry?
