In order to sit for the PMI Exam to become a certified PMP you will need to submit your resume to the PMI. After your resume is reviewed and approved by PMI you will be schedule for the exam. Your resume will need to describe your project management experience, the companies you worked for while managing projects, and your managers names and contact information that could be contacted to confirm your project management experience. PMI does randomly audit resumes, so be honest, and aware that if false claims are uncovered by the PMI organization the violator could be banded for life. The experience level required to take the exam depends on whether you have a 4 year degree or not. If you do not possess a 4 year degree you will need additional project management experience to sit for the exam. The exact requirements to qualify for the PMI PMP exam is available through the PMI website. It will be well worth your time to acquire the PMP credential if you plan to pusue a career within the project management career field.
