My question is to those of you who work in the field of Radiology. I'm wondering what one's work records are like - in other words, do you punch a time clock when arriving and leaving? Or are your work records indicated as part of a patient's record? I know that some RTechs travel from hospital to hospital in some areas, so just wondering how work time is monitored. Thanks for any info.

Greetings, I work in a couple of hospitals and have been in the field for more then 30 years. In those years I have worked a full time job at the same hospital for all those years and various other jobs to supplement my income. I've worked other hospitals, private orthopedic offices, and an imaging center. Presently I am working 7 days a week as a CT tech for 2 hospitals and some occasional ortho office work to provide coverage for a friend. In all the hospitals I have to/had to "punch in". In all the private offices no punching in, and in the imaging center I had to punch a card also.
Most places today are computerized so your name as a provider is attached to the permanent record of the patient. In days of yesteryear when there was no computers your name can always be traced back to the patient record of that particular institution. I would like to hear from others about their sign in/punch in situation at their facilities around the country.

Hope this helps,
