Build strong relationships with hiring managers. Give them what they want not what you want. Build along with this a coalition of support. This will allow for buy in from the same organization. I have been a Recruiter for 5 years within a specialized agency environment, and if there is anything I have learned it is....

1. Build rappot through respect and consistency with Candidates and Clients alike
2. Follow Up and Follow Through is what will set you apart
3. Listening to the wants and "must haves" of both Candidate and Client
4. Savvy communication skills to stretch the expectations of clients, job
descriptions are often a wish list
