I'm looking at either the RT program or LVN program at various schools. I've looked at Stanbridge and Pacific Coast for LVN and wondering if RT isn't a better field after all. Bureau of Stats says RT field is very promising for the future with job openings. I have a nice job also working full time and am a single mom with a daughter in a Catholic School and want to keep my job, but want a nice career in the future. What do you think about an online RT program that's accredited like Independence University in CA. They offer both AA and BS in RT.

I am new to the lingo on this whole thing. I am wondering how hard it truely is going to be to get a job after school. I am aware you finish with your AA but what colleges accept it? Is there anyone out there that finished with ACC RT program and got a good job? What is the going salary? Any info will help everyone! Thank you for your time.

I'm in the same boat as you. New to the lingo etc. I worked in IT for many years now and after being laid off 4 times, i've had it. I'm hoping to find anyone that finished the RT program as well from ACC.

As a RRT with over 20 years in the field, I can tell you that graduates of technical schools such as Concorde and American are considered second rate. Hospitals prefer grads from real college programs such as El Camino, Mount Sac, Orange Coast or Loma Linda. Go to a real community college and pay just $26/unit. We had Concorde students do one rotation through our facility but decided not to have them back because their educational background is inferior to the college programs.

I'm not stupid, but the way it was explained to me was I just had to get 24 right on math and that was a passing. I really want to be an RT and my friend referred me to Concorde Garden Grove. But, like you I was disappointed, when they told me I passed the math on the Hobet but not the Reading Comprehension and then had the nerve to tell me I should join the LVN program and someone can speak to me right away about getting financial aid! Whoa! They were so quick push me into a program I didn't want and take some money from me! Greed is what their really pushing for!

Concorde now requires a reading test? They sent a student to my facility who couldn't read or tell time. His charting consisted of copying what the previous person wrote. If you cannot read, please stay out of the medical field.

if you want information about american career college and its practices, there are plenty of critical reviews out there - including our website.

key to remember is that american career college is just starting to graduate it students from the program so no one knows if they even know what they are doing. placement rates and interviews with current students/recent grads should get you what you need to know.

our experience - through former employees of american career college - suggest that they are only out for the pocketbooks of the administration staff. there are a number of questionable characters running the business today....

I don't think the program that you graduate from necessarily impacts your employment if you use it and show your other attributes in interviews. I went to Concorde for my LVN, and obtained a state job at a University health clinic making more money than most other LVNS with much better benefits. I also did my RN at a trade school (Unitek) in northern california, and was hired as a New Grad RN in 2009 when most graduates aren't getting jobs, and now I am going to work at Hoag, who supposedly doesn't hire RNs from trade schools. They hired me. I've also been quite successful in ICU since graduation and am currently completing my bachelors degree at a public university. It's not what the school teaches you, it's what you do with the education, how you absorb it, and how you demonstrate that knowledge to others.

I had a seat reserved and even paid my $250 deposit for the March 2011 RT program. But i've been blessed to recently get a job and made the decision to back out. I've been having mixed feelings about going to this school, something just didn't seem right. Financial aid kept calling me wanting to discuss how i'm going to pay tuition... private loan, monthly, etc. So before committing myself, i took the initiative to go back to the school and clarify getting my $250 back if i felt this wasn't for me. Well the admissions rep ARLENE AGUILAR started getting steamed up and started harassing me on why i felt this way. She even tried to threaten me and say she was going to call in the director of admissions to our meeting and review my spot as if she was going to remove me and give it to someone else on the wait list. She kept rambling about how so many people are on the wait list and how they would take my spot in a second and how it wasn't fair for them that i'm having doubts. Well her strategy didn't work because for one, i agreed to have her call in the director but she never did and made up some excuse. Second, early in the meeting she showed me the roster and there was only 1 person on the wait list!!! So since she was talking to me with no respect i decided to make her feel stupid and said to her, "there's only 1 person on the wait list!" Well that comment pissed her off and she had the nerve to say, "what's up with your attitude dude?" The whole meeting turned into a mess and i walked out of there very upset realizing how much they didn't care for me as a student and only wanted my money!!! I hate to burst anyone's bubble, but that's just the experience i had and felt. It may be different for you if your already enrolled or even thinking about it. Please don't let me discourage you. But you can see for yourself from the recent posts on here!!!

I paid $31 k for Rt program at ACC Anaheim. All i can tell you guys about this program is "IT SUCKS"

Dr shiva's classes are boring, but she is a smart teacher ,and her exams are not that hard at all(if u listen to her lecture)

Mr C ...he is a smart guy but worst teacher i've ever had...whatever you think it's good and tell him he will never ever agree with you. That's y we called him stupid mr Bean!!

RT director..BXXX!!...doesnt know how to work and deal with students..no responsibility at all

Overall...you can not expect anything from this rt program....because the instructors always change their words, and they will never ever tell you about job placement percentage but they will complain if you take any job that pay you lower than $25 even you had been searching for jobs for over 6 months.

If i knew this i would keep my money in the bank and wouldnt ask for $28k loan T T DXXX ACC!!

So bottom line?? many of you don't recommend ACC for the RT program right? I am really confused? I am looking for a RT program that doesn't have a 3 to 5 year waiting list like the community colleges that offer it. I live near ACC and Concorde both offer the RT program but are both very expensive and both have mixed reviews. I guess its like gambling??

@ angelC

Go to whatever school you want or can afford. It doesn't matter. Its not like you going to medical school, which can be the difference in pay. Pick a school and make the best of it. Concorde and ACC are fast track schools that only want your money regardless of your outcome. I would recommend going to a community college, but I understand waiting on a list is not ideal.

Most of the RT teachers in ACC, seems like they actually want to teach you, but you can't expect a degree just because you're in the school. You actually have to study a lot and do work.
They rush you in and you can see they just want your money, but it's just what you make out of the education they offer.

Pls dont go to ACC. Dont go for RT too many RTs out there and no job. grads from last year and this year thats about 80 new grads and only 3 got a per diem job. The rest 77 new grads are struggling. I graduated about 8 months ago and still no job. Im one of the 77 thats struggling to pay student loans. Also ACC dont have good instructors and the clinical sites are crap. They dont have NICU rotation or pediatric rotation. Most of the rotations are sub acutes. You will hardly learn to draw ABG. If you're still considering RT after all the bad reviews you read from here at least go to a real college. Earn your degree and if u cant find a job as an RT at least you can have your credits transferred to a university or any other colleges and you can start another career without starting from the beginning. ACC credits cant be transferred :( you're stuck with no job, loans :(

If you call other colleges and ask they wont transfer credits from ACC. Ask them if all their grads have jobs u want to know who they are and if they can talk to u bec thats BS. I cannot believe they actually say that. If you're young go to community colleges, no reason for you to be in debt at such young age. ACC or any private colleges are meant for older people or people with kids. Go to community college, trust me youll get more respect and more opportunity esp when it comes to education. Youll get your credits transferred to a university. Go for something else dont go for RT. RT is overly saturated right now , you will struggle to look for a job esp as a new grad.
But if u insist, go to concorde at least they have better clinical sites and reputation.

organized. We have a sim-lab which most trade schools do not have. As for mr. c he is a great teacher and I learned a lot of information from him.
