Shot down by Methodist, Saint Francis, The MED, Delta Medical all which do not participate preceptor programs for online study. Methodist has a contract with Concorde. What to do? Any suggestions? Hi Nikki, no I did not find a clincal site I was also shot down by the same hospitals and nursing homes also. But don't give up something may come through for you. Try Grace of Cordova nursing home and rehab, they where getting a new respiratory dept reovated, they would be taking in more trach patients. At the time I talk to the respiratory manger, I can't remember her name she promised she would get back with me once it was completed. I never heared for her, so maybe by now it may be finished and you may be able to talk to her. Good luck |

I have been in the business for a while now, and I can honestly say that whatever you have learned, whether you graduated from a traditional school or not does not really matter. Because the hospital that you work for will dictate the protocol that you will follow. As long as you pass the boards, you can get a job anywhere, you just have to be prepared for the bumpy ride. You can practically get anybody off the street and do the job. With that thought in mind, make sure that, that is really the profession you wanted and be in for the rest of your productive life. Some RT's find it boring just to give breathing treatments every 4 hours for the whole 12 hour shift. It is really a conspiracy. They make Respiratory Therapist sounds glamorous, but if you are not fortunate enough to work your way in the hierarchy, you will just end up giving a breathing treatment for the rest of your professional career. Think hard, really think hard before you even sign up for the program. A lot of RT, end up quitting and look for something more promising career. Respiratory Therapy job is a dead end. It is so specialized, that there is no room for advancement. It is just really a waste of time and money. Don't let me say "I told you so" I am just saying u'al. |
