CCHS is now called Independence University. They still do distance learning RT education, but the price has skyrocketed since this new company (independence University) has taken over. San Joaquin Valley College (SJVConline.edu) also has some online RT programs (CRT to RRT). I hear they are very expensive (15k-20k for CRT to RRT). |

I am currently a student at San Joaquin Valley College in Rancho Cordova California. It is an expensive course to take ($26 thousand), but well worth the money. The course is 18 months, but you really know your stuff when youre done. All the people I talk to at different hospitals have nothing but great things to say about the students that come thru for their hospitals for clinical rotations. |

I have tried to work in the USA but the Immigration process is very difficult and that the RT profession is not on the list of priority jobs unlike nursing an it can take a long time as they have to advertise the job for 6 months so as to find a US citizen to apply for an RT job and they will usually get the job also lawyer fees can be costly |

Is it all inclusive? I contacted Concorde and they were asking $37,000 for their 18 month RT program. Thanks in advance! |
|
Wendy in Sacramento, California 22 months ago |
Yes the program there is for RT. There are other programs there as well, such as medical assisting and pharmacy tech, but the RT is the best. It is about 26,000 and is 18 months. I go to the Rancho Cordova campus but there is also a campus in Visalia Ca |

Wendy in Sacramento, California 22 months ago |
The 26 grand is all inclusive. It covers pretty much everything but your scrubs. The teachers at the Rancho Cordova campus are great. Very understanding and patient. I was 40 when I started this and it was hard for me to have to go back to school, but the teachers dont let you give up.I really cant say enough nice things about the place. |

I am currently a respiratory therapy student in CCSD. Here's some info site that can help you out. It is a great program and highly recommendable where they offer a fast track medical program. They have a 19 months day time, expect 14 m0nth of didactic classes 8:30 to 2pm, Monday to Thursday and 12 hours clinical rotation a day for 3 days with 4 hours class meeting (total of 40 hrs/week)for 5 month rotation. It is an Accelerated degree program. They also offer 22 months for night classes. Plus, they also offer

Hi, Rachelle Im so glad I read your comment. Please tell me how do you really feel about CCSD is it really worth $30k. How long have you been there?Im trying to make my mind up between Pima Medical,CCSD, or Grossmont, and Im a little nervous about the amount of the loan,Please respond to me with your opinions and answers, thanks. |

I signed up in 2006 for 36k plus minus the pell grant, 19 months Day time R.T. (A.S.Degree).I am currently on my 3rd clinical rotation and have 2 more clinical rotation to go. I can surely say that I have learned so much within the months of learning with CCSD. Truthfully, there were days of speculation and expectation that was ahead of us. But having an experience in class with my colleagues and instructors who had helped boost and encouraged us to hang on and appreciate every new changes within the curriculum. I can say, that I had a great experience in discovering new techniques from my clinical instructors from different hospitals that they have assigned me. And hoping to apply it within my own someday. We were fortunate to have a prestigious instructors who have helped and guide us in every courses that we have taken. Lately,CCSD are starting to have an hybrid classes. In which we have a didactic class for 3 days in class and one day off for online classes within our own time to meet our conveniences. I have also heard some good recommendation from Grossmont College, but from what I have heard,CCSD offers more hours of clinical rotation vs. other colleges. Now, I have 2 more months to finish up my clinical rotation and hoping for the best. It wont hurt to inquire in every College thats offering Respiratory Therapy. Im hoping someday to continue my education for a bachelor degree and thats one thing that gives an advantage about CCSD, They are offering Bachelor Degree for 8 months only. But for now, I am concentration in finishing up my A.S.Degree and passing the CRT and hoping RT exam in the near future. Remember, No matter what college youll choose. It is still up to you if youll take the initiative in giving your extra time to learn and read all the information, Take advantage of it. Once you sign up for it, Give all your time and effort and youll know that you had made a difference in your life. Its not easy but its a chance worth taking for. |

I am interested in attending sjvc in rancho cordova, do you know when the next program starts? Thanks for any info. |

Wendy in Sacramento, California 22 months ago |
Hi Andie, Once you start your clinicals, you will be there 2 days a week,Monday and Tuesday, 12.5 hours each day with alternating tuesdays off. Then class is Wednesday and Thursday from 8-5 and Fridays 9-12. I usually study about 2 hours a night during the week and save the weekends for the projects that are due in class that take more time. Im not sure when the next class starts. I know they had one start recently so it may be a few months. It really is a great program. Let me know if you have any more questions. |

Hi Andie, Price tag was $30k @ Concorde. $5,000 down, $16k in FS loans, FPG loan $8600 Balance during school is $1k. Then I would owe the FS loan ($16k) after school. So, total was $22k for school. Cheaper I guess right? Wife went to Concorde for her LVN and really liked it. I see how she gets a job really easy from going there. Thanks for input! |
