Are jobs in this industry on the rise? Are there any sub-sectors that are growing? Where are the jobs? Which places have the most satellite installer opportunities? |

Nothing antwhere. No one wants to pay anything either. Most of the time they want to back charge you to screw you out of your money that you have worked for. It is sad in this industry! |

We pay our installers on a regular basis. We charge the customer independently of Dish Network or Directv so you will never get charge-backed on work that you do. Fill out this application, and me or Robert will get back to you. |

The industry has become really bad to work for. Each year Direct TV always find ways to chargback tech so you basically end up working for almost free. |

I wish all the satellite installer have the balls to stick up together and file a class action lawsuit against your local contractors or Directv but most are so scared, uneducated and wimps to do so thats why they always get away with stealing your money. |

You are all correct! This is a cut throat business, so what do you do? I'll tell you, interview them! I have been in this business for 21 years and have been interview only three times. I have worked for 12 different Co. in this field but I interview them. Create a list of Q and start calling the ones advertising till you find one that is going to put you to work in an honest environment. "Scenario" I have been screwed by hundreds of banks over the years, so now I interview them to see what they can do for me.. isn't that the way it should be? My Bank: deposit go in first of the day, debt second. Free internet access, Real time deposits (4:50pm deposit in right now!!)unlimited free checking, get the point. its your money and it is your sweat make sure your Co. is working for YOU! |

Direct and Dish have a contract with your boss, and that is: All installs most remain active for the duration of that customers contract, if the customer defaults then your boss gets charge back, make no mistake he will not lose a dime as he will take every dollar of it from you.. up to two years of that contract. So this is the nature of the beast, you now have two choices: one find a new career or two become the dealer... |

So true this industry is a scam. I wonder how to get the better business bereau involed becuase someone needs to be sued. screw the sub contractor companies and directv. This dam industry rips you off. Work your tail off so they can charge you back for just about anything they could find. It's a very sad sad industry. What's even worse is there is really no other jobs to apply for since this economy is a mess! |

I totally agree with you. For example, you roll on job that pays $33 and if for any reason the customer calls Dish Network within the first three days somehow they think it's o.k to hit you with a $50 charge back.....explain that to me! Makes NO sense. I'm fed up where I have applied to work for DirectTV or DishNtw., same PR**KS that steal from us. |

I am in the process of working with the EDD and a Local attorney to start a Class Action Lawsuit. The lawsuit is against the contractor I had worked for. I will keep you posted on this. |

I've noticed this a lot, too, but like msphere said nature of the beast and all. I was unaware that Dish would actually charge back MORE than you made, tho. That's never happened to me, but my time with them was (fortunately) a short run. You still get hit sometimes no matter who you're with, tho. I think the trick is to get into sales rep and installs both. You get commisions on top of your reg pay with some companies if you manage to get a certain number of sales. I posted on another forum about Intech Media Services, and I've gone ahead and applied on their site, but I'll have to wait to get some packet in the mail or something - which is a contract agreement, policies, etc. I think most of the guidelines are gonna be posted on the site at some point so you can review b4 applying. The cool thing is that with all of that legal crap, you'll also get a bunch of promo stuff to use to get ppl signed up. I'll let ya'll know more when (or if) I get that packet in the mail |

It's booming right now for our installers. Our installers are paid more than anyone else in the industry.

Fact is you do not pay as much as most other companies do at all.Your techs. are required to sell the work they do and you pay almost nothing for the sale.I think I read on your web site that you pay 80-20/my company as with almost everyone I've ever worked for pays a little less than that plus $100.00 for the sale!Go home your just part of the problem!!!!! |

Ok,sorry my bad! if I had the exact pay schedule off a little. So where does your four job $1000.00 a week tech. get his work from? And what happens when one of said techs.customers they sold gets pissed off at Directv over a billing issue eight months later and at no fault of his own this customer tells Directv where to shove it.THEN what happens to said tech. This is where it get kinda sticky right. My guess is he's gonna see a deduction from his big $1000.00 dollar check that week????Right now I get $105.00 for a three room and $100.00 for the sale and zero charge back when the customer cancels. So please tell me again what a wonderful deal you have going on.I'm not a rookie, been at this probably way longer than you,and your not the only retailer out there trying this approach!in fact there are several companies doing the same thing within 100 miles of you.And yes you can bet your last dollar,I'm bitter as hell over what this business has become since 1999,there seems to be no measurable depths as to how low this industry will sink,Again sorry! |

Wow sounds like it depends on the contractor. The contractor I sub for is really good so far. But they were techs for 15+ years before starting their own setup. They pay us really well, offer free (unpaid) training and are expanding to several markets very fast and all the techs are happy and make great money. |

There is a new scumbag contractor in memphis TN, Networks a contractor for Multiband is ripping techs off, they have a inside QC Guy that gets your pay if he fails you, they went thru 50 techs in a 5 month period, they paid for their own gas and cable hardware etc.,also while they route you 300 miles away from home,I was told to contact their attorney if I wanted to get paid, its a sad world out there when companies like this are allowed to run a pyramid scam |
