Please if some one knows the answer please tell me.
I have one mother and one grandma coming into the bus every single day. each of them come to acompany their little ones wich is not a problem to me...the problem is when they atemp to bring another family menber with the excuse of that the school have a meeting and they need to go in the bus too. Well I tell them that only one person is alowd to come......but when I call my superviser to explain the situation he said that it is ok. Well, as far I know that is not legal, because if something happen lets said an accident...I am going to be in a big trouble maybe for having people that were not supposes to be in the bus. Can somebody help me on this please? |

One more thing...the other days, there were a graduation going on.
All I did was to ask for a letter that said that I am not responsible for this extra family members in order to cover my back. Most of you know how OPT supervise our movements, and I don't want to losse my license by doing illigal things. |

Sounds to me like people are getting a free ride - to somewhere. Do you have a handbook? If the supervisor isn't being helpful, then check with your school district. What if you let three people on the bus for one kid. There is an accident (for whatever reason). Then the school district (not your supervisor) finds out you are letting three people on the bus - and you get fired for not following rules. Do you have a handbook? Otherwise, go beyond your supervisor and get the information from an official source. |

Mary, thank you very much for your answer. And yes, that is what I am going to have to do, I will check with my school distric or the board education department, because this got me sick and I don't feel confortable about it. And you know how this parents act when you say the word "NO".
But I need to protect my self and my license. |

Your supervisor doesn't care. He's just giving you an answer to shut you up. Do you have a union? If so, they should have the official answer. But you need to get the answer from an official source. |

i drive a special needs bus for our county school system.there is a strict rule that there is to be no one but the driver and student getting on and off the bus.if a student needs help it is the drivers or the monitars resposibility to help the child. On the steps of the bus it clearly states NO TRESPASSING.We have had parents arreseted for that very thing. You need to cover your backside at all times. If something was to happen to a parent you will be the one getting in trouble.Dont let some lamebrain superviser tell you its all right its NOT. |

I have been a school bus driver for almost 3 years now... And here in Orlando (Orange county)for no reason it is allow for parent to ride the bus with their kids... Here if a driver has a pre-k child that driver needs to have a monitor at all times... Follow your instincts. Is your job and your license. If something happen inside the bus,it going to be your responsability. I don't think your boss is going to cover your back... Good Luck and be safe... |
