How did you get your start doing seamstress work, and what career moves did you make to get to your current position? Do you need a particular educational background? |

That is a unique question. There is no ideal thing to do or ideal place to start. Just start wearing things that you have made, or make something as a gift for someone. After that you will surely sparke some interest. If you have no sewing experience, then I would recommend a teacher to help you with the basics. |

Depending on what type of seamstress work you are looking for will determine what experience you will need. Many industrial sewing jobs are taught on the job. They put more emphasis on machine knowledge and maintenance. For seamstresses in stores and dry cleaners you need to be able to do alterations and fittings.
