I am currently living in Danbury, Ct but plan to move to Ohio. My wedding gown will be made by a seamstress that I found on my last visit in Ohio. I would like to purchase the fabric that I want used for my gown while I am here in Danbury. The entire gown (top and bottown, excluding sleeves) is going to be made out of either silk or satin or satin tulle. The sleeves will be made out with lace and there will be a lace over the bottom half covering the fabric that I choose. I need to know how much fabric that I need to purchase for a size 16. I am hoping to lose weight b4 the wedding but rather have too much fabric than not enough. The gown shape is from this web site: I hope that someone can help me as I would like things to go smoothly. Thank you. |

you should be asking these questions of the dressmaker in ohio if she cannot answer them you need to rethink hiring her to make your wedding dress. She should have access to wholesalers that can supply fabric and laces at a discount to professonals. From the look of the dress there is approx. 9 -12 yards of fabric and this is based on deferent widths of fabric and is not including lining, underskirt,or lace yardage. The dress should be made in your current size with a little extra seam allowance just in case it needs to be let out. It is my experience that most brides put on a few pounds in the month before the wedding because of parties or preg. Even if you hold to your goal you will probably be with in two or even three dress sizes of the orignal size, making it fairly easy to adjust the bodice(top part). IT is easier to subtract than to try and add fabric. I hope I was of some help. |
