The best adivse I can think of is to find the people in your area that have alot of contacts and get to know them, when I started it was just me and a few officers, I took on a few "partners" and got some really BIG accounts. Figure out what people need and sell them on it. Always give quality not quantity. A roving patrol is the best money maker I have right now. |

I think to get a contract, you might need to send some sort of letter of introduction, along with your services. Basically to property management co's, business' depending on whether you are looking to do residential complex's, or commercial properties, etc. Introduce your company in short, and tell them what you can do, invite them to get in contact with you to speak more about your services, etc. |

Why would anyone say this is not a helpful comment? Some greedy security company most likely with nothing better to do than thwart competition. |

NOTED THIS IN MIAMI AS I WORKED SECURITY FOR 30 YEARS;;(BLOG-SPEAKS);THERE APPEARS TO BE PROBLEMATIC CLIENTS WHO ARE BOUNCING JOB APPLICATIONS THROUGH"HEAD-HUNTERS" WHO PRESCREEN, AND THEN PASS APPLICANT ON TO CLIENT.WHAT I SUSPECT IS THAT THESE CLIENTS ARE "DOG CONTRACTS"..CLIENTS WHO RUN GUARDS THROUGH THEIR COMPANY, OFTEN EXPECTING WAY-TO-MUCH SERVICES( SOME, ARE OFTEN NOT RELATED TO SECURITY, BUT ACTUAL COMPANY CHORES WHICH NO ONE WANTS TO DO FOR SO LITTLE MONEY, OR ELSE REALLY BAD ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS LIKE NO RESTROOM ACCESS, OR WAY TO HOT A CLIMATE,ETC) TO BE RENDERED. THESE "DOG-CLIENTS" OFTEN HIRE-AND-FIRE GUARDS IRRESPECTIVE OF THEIR WORTH OR PERFORMANCE..AND THE MANAGEMENT SOMETIMES I-S THE PROBLEM..PERSONALITY POISON PERSON!WHEN THE AGENCY GETS TIRED OF THIS GUARD "MASS-EXTINCTION"' THEY DROP THE CONTRACT...AND IT GOES FROM ONE AGENCY TO ANOTHER...WITH A "HEAD-HUNTER " PRE-SCREENING PHONE AGENCY DOING THE CULLING AND SHILLING FOR THE CLIENT TEMPORARILY. IT REMAINS A "POISON-DOG CONTRACT", AND NOTHING CHANGES. IF YOU SUSPECT THIS IS THE CASE, DEMAND TO SPEAK TO AT LEAST TWO FORMER GUARDS THAT THE CLIENT TERMINATED, AND IF HE REFUSES...YOU REFUSE TO WASTE ANYMORE OF YOUR PRECIOUS TIME IN THE LITTLE CON-GAME! GO ON TO YOUR BETTER INTERVIEWS, ELSEWHERE. ( I AM 4 U ALL! ) |

Approach your potential clients, find out who owns that apartment building, it's most likely a property co. So approach their office, speak to someone in charge. Or simply call them. For club contracts I would actually go to the club, or call before a party night around the early evening, and keep calling till you get someone, ask for the boss, you might have to make something up to get him on the line, he is not the one answering the phones usually. Tell them its Marko, or make something up. So they relay this message quickly thinking it's an important person/friend of the boss'. Pitch your security team, tell him how many you have, and what you can do. You should have atleast 1 security girl, to search females at the door, if it's that sort of place. |

I have been in security for 23 years. The most important factor in quality security is how the company treats its guards. The guards protect you, not the company. Remember that. Believe nothing any guard company salesman tells you. They are no different then any used car salesman. You best bet is in a in-house force always. For those of you asking about getting contracts, treat your guards well and THEY will find business for you. Because I am professional, well trained and well spoken..I have had MANY people offer me jobs or ask my advice about hiring a contractor while on duty. I would have given the business to my company (Securitas) but because they treat their people so poorly I sent them elsewhere. Your reputation among your employees is your greatest sales point. |
