Also, there are many different dialects of spanish in Latin America. Some can use a word as something appropiate for one particular region where as in another area the same word can be offensive.

No matter that are particular expressions per region correct Spanish is correct Spanish, and should be correct in any region

I believe your question has more to do with Syntax than daialect.For example the words pitillo and cabron. Both are correct Spanish, however they may have entirely different meanings according to regional or social register.
