I have been doing mainly low end taxes for 5 years.
The playing field has changed.

I see:
The RAL is dead
Pressure to lower fees with the Turbo tax. A neighbor can do someones return.

I have been in the tax industry for 5 yrs. I am a product of Liberty Tax Services. This was my first year on my own.

I have a contact with a money lender chains.

Lets use this example

the client is charged 160.00 for an EIC return
The clients pays bank directly 9.95

Out of that 160.00
The money lender gets 40.00
The contact company gets 40.00
I make 80.00 for return.

What is your email? I would like to talk with you.

Chris

Depending on your software company you use they should be able to provide you with a bank.that proceses RALS Republic bank is the only bank I know that are offering them. But u would had to have processed 450 RTs or RALS last year to even qualify. There open enrollment has come and gone already. Your best bet is to find a bank that will.do RTS and explain to your clients the process of why they are not offering them.

Okay, if that is the case, Then why is there so many issues with people offering RALS if it was that simple to get money. I am a company that is able to offer RAL's this year, I lost alot of my clients last year, because that is what they wanted QUICK money. So offices that had the money to lend are the ones that got alot of smaller business clients. The RAL's are not DEAD as Chris stated... If I can help anyone get there clients a RAL i would do just that. If you did not apply in September for pre-enrollment with Republic bank your application was not really considered. I can understand all the fustration of the RALS..... If you need information on offering them please contact me at wandacross24@msn.com.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but all bank products and even the simple option of getting your prep fees from the refund proceeds are in violation of Circular 230 Section 10.31. All preparers with a PTIN will fall under this jurisdiction come January 1. Remember, to be forewarned is to be forearmed!

All the software that is available does that. Even HR Block and Jackson Hewitt. So how will we get out fees?? That is crazy.

This is not true.. the cir 230 does not say that. 10.3 is on page 6-8 of the city 230. It talks about who may practice....

I am not sure why people are spreading these rumors about circular 230...just read it and you will see it does not say that.

Circular 230 section 10.31 does not say anything about not taking money from clients or from banks. This industry is to big for people not to use some type of bank to offer products to lower income families. I know I can't walk into to H&R block and pay $350 to $400.00 to get my taxes prepared. No one is in violation with code for having fees taken out of the refund. Chris everyone will be covered by cir. 230 when they register for the PTIN and complete testing. So don't worry you will not be left out
Thanks Wanda
