Are there schools in the US or UK which recruit teachers overseas directly through the internet?

I don't think there are. Don't forget each state has its own standard, for example here in CA in order to teach in the public schools you must pass the CBEST and show proof of Credentials. However if you teach at a private school these tests are not required. Due to the present economy, I do not believe you will be succesful in obtaining employment as a teacher in the US. Don't be discouraged, if you are educated...which it sounds like you are...you may have other options. However the first obstacle is getting to the US of UK. Good Luck...
