What are typical teacher salaries? Do some companies pay a lot more for this position than others? What does a top earner make in this field?

Salary varies depending on region and whether you have a bachelor's or a master's degree. $30K seems average and for those with master's degrees it's a few thousand more like $35K+. There is a pay raise schedule for each state according to years of experience. National Board Certification gives you a raise as well. You can be promoted for leadership ability to an administrative position on the district, state, or national level.
