Do some companies pay a lot more for this position than others? What does a top earner make in this field?

What skills should you learn to increase your salary?

Top earners can make upto 100K if you are specialized, have a clearance and live in the right area.

I work as a Technical Trainer in the Defense Industry. I have a Bachelor's degree in Occupational Education, had 8 years enlisted in the Air Force in a career field maintaining similar technology to what I am working on now, and 3 of those were as a Technical School Instructor. I make about $70,000 here in New England.

My Manager would probably not be looking for any particular certification or degree or anything. Mostly just experience in the industry or transferable technical knowledge.

Oh, and I did have a Security Clearance. It happened to expire very soon after I got hired and they were willing to hire me, knowing they'd have to pay to renew it.
