I really hope that's not true either, Joseph! But on their website they say that they hire veterans over civilians so hope you get a call soon! |

tara.coronado in Cleburne, Texas said: I really hope that's not true either, Joseph! But on their website they say that they hire veterans over civilians so hope you get a call soon! When I applied for a position at Dept of Homeland Security...the HR representative told me that Veterans would have priority over everyone. She explained this all to me when I applied for a position with a score of 98. She suggested that I apply to other locations that may be less desirable and potentially attracting fewer veterans. I live in South Florida. However, when I spoke to the hiring manager handling the ready pool for TSA, I was told that they go down the list in the order the individual entered on to the list. She indicated if a veteran entered the pool on the same day as 10 others, they would be at the top of the hiring list for that date. I am appreciative for the sacrifice veterans have made however, I am a single female, mother and grandmother, supporting myself after being unemployed for almost two years. I am very thankful that TSA has given me a shot at a good government job. For two years I applied to positions on USAJobs scoring 95 to 99. I never once made it to the short list. How fair is this for a former federal employee who is a college graduate with 20 years of professional sales and managerial experience.... |

Look at your experience and to think they would hire someone with far less just because they fell into the pool before you. This policy just doesn't make any sense to me. Unless they give these managers the discretion to hire people by there past experience they will continue to fill thses positions with unqualified personel that will just embarrass and make the organization look bad. Thanks for your response and the best of luck to you. Joseph18... |

It took me 23 months for the entire process from application to hire. I did miss the first assessment which delayed me for about a year, so make sure you answer your phones. Then I had a few disputes on my E86 that I had to clarify, put my background check on hold lasting 2 mos. After that I turned down an offer in LAS VEGAS McCarran, so that I could wait for something in the bay area. Finally got hired in Oakland. Point of the story: make sure you are on top of your paperwork and are available for "the call" Timing is everything. |

Stop the job descriptions on an open forum, you genious signed a consent form when you became a candidate. Class up personal e-mails or some other form of contact. This shout out goes out to the personel who are are ready working, you Nim Rods should know better, and to the recruits, I don't place no blame on you for the past silly coments posted on this site from the past, moving forward you all have been warned!!Don't post operational Information like the so-called TSA workers are doing, I know they mean well, but everyone here has signed that consent form. OPSEC / PERSEC means Operational Security and Personal Security!

Okay well I really don't know who you are, and since you have terrible grammar Im assuming you are just sitting at home on your laptop and trying to seem more important than you are. I know all about OPSEC, I was deployed to the Gulf, but nothing I have written here or anything that was written in the past few days applies to what you have said. We are all just looking for some answers and insights from each other about the process. The process is not a secret. What goes on during the computer based test and the airport assessment is a secret. Get off your high horse and Good Day to you too! |

They are all qualified professional individuals or they wouldn't have made it that far. Yes, some may be overqualified for this position but it is their choice. This position could be an entry opportunity for advancement w/TSA or any Federal agency for all. |

I just schedule my AA, but its for the rockford airport and the lady encouraged me to switch my preference to ORD, but Im debating. It seems like ORD moves a little faster then what I've been reading. You give me hope though!!! I might apply for MDW also. Thats not too bad of a wait...besides I'm finishing up school. I might stick it out with ORD...besides thhey pay more then rockford |

My TSO process has really been on the fast track. I applied 12/15/11, took my CBT 1/13/12, passed CC 1/18/12, AA was on 1/25/12, passed physical 2/7/12, e86 2days later and was placed into hiring pool 2/22/12. I called HR at the HQ where I took my AA and asked if they knew when the next training class was going to be held and was told they don't have anything scheduled any time soon. WTF would they expedite the hiring process if they're not hiring soon? Has anyone run into a similar situation? |
|

my process was fast but not as fast as yours. My application expired 1/28 after being in the ready pool for 6 months. but i must say you really went through the process ASAP! good luck Sandbarhopper in Wilmington, North Carolina said: My TSO process has really been on the fast track. I know that once we are in the Ready Pool that being pulled from it is based off of our CBT and interview scores. (Being a Vet helps too!)

I jut got a part time offer from TSA. However I already have a contractual job which is paying better and steady schedule. I like my current job It i a small NGO so I dont get any benefits apart from paycheck. I am currently in School for a Masters in public administration. I really would like to get my foot into a Government job and this might be the right start. I need some counselling here should I quit my current work and give a try with TSO? |
|
RLeek in Akron, Ohio 3 months ago |
Do not quit your job at this time, why? If another administration gets in there the whole system may get revamped and you could end up getting layed off or if one certain candidate gets in TSA may be dis-banded altogether or reduced to airport screen again. People are getting pretty pissed about the growth of TSA and the current administration is placing them in highway weigh stations bus terminals highway check points and other areas that concern individuals.

Now they are on the background check. I had heard they are looking for females for ILM; not sure when though. I heard them say they need people for the summer months. |

I already done my medical and I was wondering how long it takes for tsa to receive it and it be updated? Also My e86 was accepted a while ago, roughly how long does it take for them to do the investigation or does it depend on the person who they are investigating? |

Hey Tasha, I just submitted all my E86 signature forms and released them, how do you know when they accept them? I messed up and didnt start the forms until after I passed the Assessment, just didnt want to gather all that info for no reason lol. I have until April 10th for them to be accepted I guess, that is the 21 day mark after my assessment, did they send yours back to you for any corrections? I am kind of confused on all that. I passed my medical so I guess I am just waiting on background check! I had a clearance when I was in the Navy up until a year ago so they should really only have to do a check for the past year but who knows. Thanks! |

But you can call TSA and they would tell you if there is anything else. But as far as the dashboard goes...gonna take awhile to post. My e86 just posted and I been completed it. I would consider calling TSA helpdesk and they can definitely tell you. If they do find something you need to fix you would get an e-mail in about a week after you submitted it. |

Thanks, Tasha! Mine finally got accepted today, about a week before the cut-off date lol. I should have done this before the AA but I just felt like I would jinx myself by doing all that and then not passing the assessment. I forget what airport you are going for? I know its not DFW like me. I haven't really seen anybody on here from DFW. |
