There is a market shift going on right now where people are booking their travel online instead of going into the brick and mortar agencies. If you'd like to capture some of that shift and make the money your employer is making take a look at my site www.andycline.com or if you want more info give me a call on my cell 314-800-3000. I would love to talk to you about the awesome opportunity |

People have been booking their travel online for some time now, this is nothing new. I don't know what type of presentation YTB does but believe me when I say travel agents and the industry are taking notice of this type of business and its not good |

People have been booking travel, trips for their church groups family reunions, vacations travel clubs all inclusive with hotels and resorts for years, prior to any card mills, you honestly think people will suddenly stop booking travel if you take cards away? People are still going to book travel and make money, they may even get on a fam or two... If I sold over 100,000.00 in 6 months on Royal, hello free 7 days on their ship... ok to a regular person with out any cards either she leaves on for her cruise in December. Corporations are about making money, think what you will. I am not saying I agree with untrained people being able to get cards, but I am saying that the industry will set up the requirements no some TAs like yourself who lack proper knowledge about Network Marketing or its profitable impact on the Travel Industry. In fact YTB sold 13 Million in under 11 months, on Royal alone we beat out many others you actually think YTB is going stop filling up Cruise ships? Trust me that same money will go on other ships just as fast. In fact you should run quick and start booking Royal I hear that their Royal mistake is going to hurt their ships for years to come, I personally will not be booking them for 2008/2009 and I dont have a problem, in fact several of my Clients have informed me they will go on any ship I recommend. |

YTB is not a card mill like any of the other so called network marketing travel companies. Starting the first of the year you have to have $1500 in sales commission before you can even get your travel credentials. How's that for taking notice? That was even in to response to the letter that some 500 brick and mortor Travel agencies signed and sent to Carnival to drop YTB because we are supposedly bad for business. Well some 14 millions dollars so far for the year in cruises through Carnival can't be that bad. If you're a travel agent you should really look into this market shift because we have the same info you are giving your clients, they just do it on their own and you still make the commission without doing as much work. If you are anyone would like to dicuss this you can even call me my cell is 314-800-3000. You might find out why thousands of agencies are closing thier doors. Its all going online. |

YTB defends its business practices (10/24/2007)
YTB International, whose practices as a multilevel marketer of travel products came under fire mounted an aggressive defense of its business model and its recruitment of novice agents. The company's cofounder and president, Kim Sorensen, told Travel Weekly that he and cofounder Lloyd Tomer were attempting to meet with Royal Caribbean and resolve any conflicts or misunderstandings about their business model. Whatever the outcome, both men said they were also working to correct misconceptions about YTB. "There is a lot of misconception about who we are and what we do," Sorensen said. Some of the misconceptions might have been a result of the company's achieving the No. 35 spot on the 2007 Travel Weekly Power List. The ranking was based on YTB's response to the Power List survey, where the company reported about $226 million a year in "verified sales." Sorensen said that figure reflected the total value of bookings that had resulted from referrals by its agents, not YTB's actual net revenue. Sorensen added that the Power List figure had not been an attempt to mislead anyone, and he pointed out that the publicly traded company's financials are routinely reported in its Securities and Exchange Commission filings. According to SEC filings, about 72% of YTB's revenue comes from licensing fees and the Web site fees that it charges the more than 60,000 referring agents who use its systems to book travel. The remainder of the company's revenue comes from sales commissions that it retains and from fees it collects for training seminars for its "referring travel agents," or RTAs.
|
|
BNTG in Alexandria, Virginia 11 months ago |
Of its revenue sources, the second largest was $7.3 million in commissions, Sorensen said, which is about 30% of the commissions earned by its RTAs. Sorensen said that the $226 million sales figure it offered to Travel Weekly describes the volume of revenue it generates for cruise, vacation and other travel suppliers, rather than YTB's own net revenue. |

I am new to this site but, I have to say that everything out of BNTG's mouth is negative and needless to say, slanders YTB. What an unbecoming, unprofessional thing to do!

|
BNTG in Alexandria, Virginia 11 months ago |
Chris, you have to be a comedian right!!! That post above was from YTB corporate!! BNTG did NOT make that up, that is there response to being named on TW's power agency list (20 something I believe) and them stating they have made $226 million in sales...you want to get mad, get mad at a lie, not the truth...I simply posted the article in tact...besides, you need to worry about recruiting more people as more and more YTBers look into TraVersus and the other hosts |
|
Andy Cline in Saint Louis, Missouri 11 months ago |
BNTG you must be blind or you don't want to realize the future of the travel business. You still need to get your facts straight. But Chris is right, everything you say is negative |
|
BNTG in Alexandria, Virginia 11 months ago |
Andy, doesn't seem like you do too much reading...as you would notice everything I have said hasn't been negative...but it's obvious why you and chris would think as much... |

So Basically BNT your really with Traverus??? I thought you were with a Networking Company. Just a bit for FYI all of us in Network Marketing Companies at least try to keep it professional, I know where you may have come from your unprofessional mud slinging is second nature but please if your going to now be a Networker start doing some Networking... Also here is a News Flash ya, one of Expedia's Sr VPs just joined YTB... his name if you want to check the records is Dr. Bob Scligman... and YTB is not worried about losing members I am sure your Traverus is not either and you should also stopping losing sleep over it. Last time I checked the only company paying free medical and Life Insurance and the Home of the 1 Million Dollar Bonus was still YTB... That should keep you busy for a while. |

You guys are laughable at best...at least in on my side of the fence keeping it professional can mean you disagree with someone's position...oh I forgot, most of you are brainwashed so of course you can stand on your own and just try to gang up as a group...still a loosing battle as far as your stances...and I "still" standby my original statement to andy and of christine just found a reason to jump because she simply wanted to...there was nothing negative about telling someone it doesn't look as if they have read the threads! |

BNTG, I have read all of the postings, and these are the FACTS!: YTB came in to the Travel Industry at the time of a huge Market Shift in the Travel Industry in 2001. We are helping the Travel Industry not hurting it. If you do a little research on where we are now since we launched in 2001, and check out our SEC filings with all 50 states, you will see what I am talking about. Also, this is the FUTURE of Travel being the Internet. 90% of all people in the World are booking their trips online. YTB just made it even better. You are the "old school" and it's time you faced reality. We are not brainwashed, we are the future of Travel in which you are threatened by. Maybe you should just face the facts, and know that your time is limited in the "old school way" of booking travel and go ahead and just join YTB, soon to be the largest online travel agency in the WORLD! |
|
BNTG in Alexandria, Virginia 11 months ago |
Chip, this huge market shift says what?; other than more people started to try to book online. I've been in the industry a long time and you will not find any (that I can find, if you have one please share) article about YTB back in 2001 "moving or changing" the landscape...the internet has been available since the early 90s, caught on in the early 90s and had more adoption as far as travel goes mid 90s and on....Yes you are correct, the future of travel is on the internet but that's been going on since the mid 90s like indicated above, remember moving more people to the internet simply means more distribution opportunities for all the online players out there, not necessarily an increase in share value or significant bookings to YTB...I have did research and out of YTB's own corporate mouth "they" say themselves that 72% of their revenue comes from licensing and website fees, let me know if you would like to see that article. |
|
BNTG in Alexandria, Virginia 11 months ago |
As far as "old school" what exactly are they telling you guys? That the brick and mortar agencies sit in some jail cell somewhere with no connectivity to the internet? Let me explain it this way, whether it is brick and mortar OR online, the technology isn't soooo vast that YTB has created a separate revenue stream. YTB simply licenses the SAME technology brick and mortar agencies use to present to its people for selling... For instance, the hotel booking engine on your site is licensed from travelocity which in turn gets its information from Sabre, which is a GDS which the brick and motar agencies use. The agreements and contents that Sabre/Worldspan/Apollo/Galileo have negoitated from the airlines/hotels/cars etc... are the same ones available to all its subscription holders including YTB and the brick and mortars. Of course there are other companies such as priceline's content which I believe YTB has also licensed I say brainwashed because YTB isn't being forthcoming or honest about the industry with you guys....IF there was such a this doom's day prediction of TA's, they why would YOU call yourself a TA? When the airlines cut commissions wayyyyy back in the early 90s, why didn't the industry (TAs) all fold? Yes there were a "lot" of agencies that folded but you should know this is because their primary focus was airline tickets, not packages and the like and its completely understandable...back then they were being paid up to 25% of the "entire" ticket price so a lot of them were making a good living at that level. When the internet caught on and eventually more people started to book online, these agents didn't understand how to position themselves to best take advantage of the new technology, not new market, the market isn't new...back then, the airlines/industry etc...predicted that the internet was going to "replace" everybody, especially TA's which are still here and doing well |

BNTG in Alexandria, Virginia, Bless your tiny little heart.... Go out and get you a LIFE. It's hard to believe that your purpose in life (your reason for being) is to research YTB and then to go to online forums to debate with YTB Travel Agents about YTB. If you're so in love with YTB, you ought to be collecting a check! You are so obsessed, possessed and consumed with a company that isn't doing a thing for you. Don't you find this behavior of yours to be a bit... how shall I say this... off balanced? You're like a stalker... going from site to site... from forum to forum... searching out YTBers. And you call us laughable! |

BNTG in Alexandria, Virginia, Whether it's 10 hours, 10 days or 10 years... I'm always interested in what concerns MY company and MY collegues in YTB. Whenever I'm surfing the NET searching for YTB info, I'm doing research... working on marketing, etc. YTB is MY business, BNTG. So, imagine this: I'm surfing the NET, reading various things in various places about YTB and I run across this one by one of MY COLLEGUES promoting OUR BUSINESS. I click on the link and start to read, and WHO do I read has been stirring up mess about YTB AGAIN... WHO BUT YOU...BNTG in Alexandria. I should have known, if the conversation turns from positive to negative, you'll be right there in the midst instigating, inciting and spreading your garbage... AGAIN! Why would any self-respecting person want to always be associated with negative banter? Why would any intelligent person who values him or herself expend so much negative energy? Honestly, BNTG... You're unbelievable. You're so invested in YTB, you ought to at least be a stockholder. At least then you can anticipate getting paid by the company you've invested so much time and thought into. Have a REASON THAT MAKES SENSE to delve so deeply into a company that has nothing to do with you. You NEED a life. Aren't there any charities that you care about? Do you have a family? Children? What about your own company? Isn't there something of VALUE that you could do with your life? Time? What about your own company? Oh I forgot, you're just an employee. But still, you're giving your life to somebody else's company, at least you could be delving more deeply in IT! No matter how many honorary degrees you get for studying YTB, it can't increase your net worth from the side of the fence you're on. BNTG in Alexandria, Virginia, seriously, you're really starting to look like a psychopath if not a stalker. |

How does one even begin to research information if they want to think about becoming a travel agent.
Doing a search is so unreliable, because of scams etc. thanks! |
|
Regina Osei in Memphis, Tennessee 7 months ago |
Hi Lynda, I think your research should begin with you. What exactly are you looking for? What type of business do you want? If you are looking to start a traditional travel agency business, you'll have to go to school and it is quite costly. Not to mention the overhead costs of running the business. If you are not opposed to the travel network marketing businesses (they are both a travel agency and network marketing and you can usually choose to work both or either side of the business)you may want to do online research as well as meet with or talk to people who are in the business. Attend the presentations, check out the third party endorsements, etc. In my case, I knew several people well who were in YTB, and a very good friend introduced me to the company. I trusted my friends and their judgement. Since joining the company 1 1/2 years ago, I am just as enthused, motivated and inspired by the company and the leadership as I was when I first started... if not moreso. There are some very good companies out there and some that are not very good so you are wise to do your homework. But remember, it's not an exact science. What may work for someone else, may or may not work for you, but much of it will depend on you. I wish you the best in your search. If I can assist you further, please feel free to call or email me. reginaosei@gmail.com
