I have a group of English students (mostly older people). At the end of the year, we plan to take a trip together to the US and Canada, where they will use their English. I will be going with them. If this group tour is successful, I plan to do many more. Since I am the tour organizer, I would like to know work out a split with a travel agent. I have been looking on the web, and so far, it seems that Japanese travel agencies aren't big on affiliate agents. Does anyone have anything insight into this? |

I am considering working as a travel agent on my free time. I dont want a full time job because I have a full time job with the Govt. I am looking into KHM and to be quite honest, since I just got this whirlwind idea of doing something like this, I have no clue what do to. I can do my research and find this information on my own, but would appreciate some of you experienced people give me a slither of guidance. Is KHM a reputable company? It states that within 24hrs they will send you your agent ID...Now, I cant see this being a real, bona fied travel agent...but, would this be a good company to start with and get my feet wet? I will just be selling trips to myself, family and friends for now...maybe down the road expand further....any help is most appreciated. Shawn |

First I would check out The Little Black Book; Consortium & Host Agency Guide - viewer.zmags.com/publication/c8afed6e#/c8afed6e/68 - This will provide you with the legitimate host agencies in the travel business. You can read about each one and how they operate. Some provide leads, some don't, looks like most offer some type of ongoing education and tons of support. There is also TRUE (quote) "Travel Retailer Universal Enumeration) System's sole purpose is to help provide travel agents with the assignment of travel industry numeric codes that are recognized by the travel supplier community, including cruise lines, tour operators, hoteliers, and car rental companies." which can be found at www.ossn.com/true_registration.asp.

I am just starting to research becoming a travel agent. I have been in sales for 25 years and have always been a top producer. I love people and and not looking to make big bucks, just looking to sell something I am passionate about. I was thinking for starting out selling cruises. Cruise One specifically. I know nothing about booking travel etc, so I think I need someone to train me. I know there is a franchise fee, but at least I have some guidance. Any comments? |

Cruise One is part of World Travel Holdings. A really great company. Instead of a franchise, why not work for World Travel Holdings as a cruise agent. They sometimes have openings for new agents and they train you for 6 weeks. You'll learn the ins/outs of selling travel. The earning potential is great, and they you could branch out and buy your own franchise at a future point. I worked for them for awhile, but went on to pursue a different career path. WWW.WTH.COM. They have work from home jobs. Happy travels. |

If you are still looking for the right opportunity to make money from your home in travel; What I would like to do is 1)see if you and I can work together as a team 2)to see if what we have is right for you or not. What I would like you to do is text the word ACE to 58203 to gain more information. The whole point to our system is that none of us have to do any selling or spend a lot of time explaining the opportunity, we just simply direct people to the information and then let them decide if it's right for them. You can also e-mail me with questions @ shenan01@hotmail.com Thanks! |

Just ask the companies who make buggy whips and carriage wheels (oh wait, there ARENT any of those anymore). You have provided no credentials whatsoever to back up your sunny claims of "just do it". Just do what? Go into a dying field? Give me a break. and what makes you the wiser one................if i sent this 3 times sorry |

I would agree that the traditional travel agent business model is toast! That's why you don't see travel agencies any more. They have all gone online, or have gone out of business. You have to specialize if you want to make good money. You have to go where the money is. There are two areas that are still experiencing a ton of growth for travel agents: Cruises and Group Travel. The reason for this is the fact that you make good money for every sale you make. I am in group travel, because I also like the fact that I can be very proactive and create business. I run a travel club now, where I plan trips to places that I want to go to. So I am actually getting paid to travel as well as my trip is free because I have booked a group. Same thing with cruises and booking groups on cruises. I learned about this through a free ebook I picked up at www.VacationCareers.com which suprisingly was very good. The result is that I have a career that still makes good to great money, even with the changes in the travel business. |
