Any suggestions on how to become a homebased travel agent. I've been searching the web but I don't know if what I've found are scams...I've seen some "pyramid" schemes but I'm looking for a legit "work from home" program. I've been reading that some offer training....I am not a certified agent, but would like to become one. Do I use a host agency? |

Yes you should find yourself a proper host. Check on Asta.org, from my understanding Nexion is good as is outside agents. Avoid the MLM companies which push recruiting rather than travel. |

I've been working with him for about 2 years now and he's great (Peter Stilphen, owner). Good luck! |

If you want to become a "certified travel agent" I recommend doing it through a legitimate travel company. I've done my research and I know which ones are legit and which ones aren't. If you'd like you can email me and I will help you in deciding. Travelmuch@live.com |

I am a disabled wife and mom looking to find a home based position in the travel business. I have always been intrigued with traveling and love helping people. I am not interested in any pyramid schemes and would welcome any help or suggestions you can give to help me break into the business. Thank you in advance for helping me pursue my dream and regain my independence. |

Hi, It is very hard to find a travel agent home based job unless you have over 5 years experience. If you want to be a travel agent it's best to go to a travel school. It only teaches you the basics, and you learn more over the years as your work as an agent. Good luck on finding a home based job, I have over 15 years as a travel agent, and I was able to get two jobs being able to work from home. It's great to not have to deal with the politics of the office and to be able to roll out of bed and get on the phones. But if you don't have the schooling in to be a travel agent you might look at American Express. They will take new comers to the travel industry but working from home is hard to get if you can get in with American Express it is a call center and before your on the floor there is a training class you have to go through.

Thank you for your comments. Yes, government rates do not pay commission. I am looking for a job with a company that I can work from home, not to work as an agent on my own. Thank you,
