I work part-time for a family run, 3 agent travel agency in Canada, and my boss just informed me that I have to cover the difference on an airline ticket that I misbooked, original ticket was 500.00 and the client went and rebooked himself in first class for 1800.00 at the airline counter! I know I booked the wrong date, but the client received his ticket in hand over a month ago, and did not take time to look at it himself. I could have rebooked it myself if the error was sighted in time, but the client did not look at his ticket until giving it to the clerk at the airport! I have asked if she has any kind of insurance and I am told no. Can anyone help me with any information on this subject! I have to take out a loan 4 days before Christmas....for this?!?!? |

QUIT. QUIT NOW. Don't even go back. Just send him an e-mail or leave a message saying you quit. Do not take out a loan!!! Quit and go get another job after the holidays. That guy had his ticket a month in advance. He had plenty of opportunity to review it - which he should have done as soon as he got it. So just what is your employer's loss? Is he reimbursing the guy from the $1,800 he spent on the spot (because of his ignorance of not checking the ticket) - so you're expected to pay $1,300? When you booked the ticket, didn't you repeat back to the guy the information (which I'm sure you did). If he threatens you with suing you for the money, let him. He can't. It's the company's loss - and is not your legal responsibility. He can file suit in small claims court - but he can't win on it. |
