^ try checking out CR England or maybe a local job assisting business, they have lots of resources, and lots of Obama money to send people to different schooling, truck driving being one of the easiest ones to join. There are a lot of trucking companies that train, but are not worth driving for, but then again you have to start somewhere. I hope this helps. Good luck

First off it is not all about the driving you have to watch every dotted I and cross every T someday at the scales your log book will be asked for then if you have any mistake it will cost you more than any house or food and fuel you will ever experience so give it a second thought. Being away from love ones and talking to yourself or a black box of squelches and 10-4's, is a Life you have to give 100% to there are great days and with it some days will not go your way.
PERIOD!
SECOND THOUGHTS

Don't worry about the scales learn how to fill out log books, neatly. The neater they are the less likely you will be F'ed with by the man. Keep your truck clean, and don't look like a dirt bag and you will have less of a chance being F'ed with by the man. Always weigh out, and make corrections so you won't get F'ed with by the man. I would keep your cb off and only use it in traffic to find out what is going on. Most drivers forget they where green at one time too. If you hear a driver speak bad about a company or other drivers, take it as a grain of salt, until you can spot the BSers. This doesn't exactly tell you where to find a job or traing, but just some advice.

I have a situation here. I am recovering from being off the road for a while. I was terminated in 2008 for not reporting an accident. I finally caught a blessing from God. After praying for years, Dart said they will hire me in august this year! Thank you Lord! But here is where I need help. Dart said I need 3 more months of OTR experience because my old experience will begin to expire in august. If there are any owner operators out there who don't mind helping me get those three months, please contact me at t_mincey6764@yahoo.com. I am a clean 24 year old male. I'm neat and I stay clean. I don't even care if I'm paid really. I just want to get 3 months of verifiable driving. I've been praying for years for God to give me an opportunity. Now I'm stepping out on faith. I'm willing to do whatever it takes to get out there. Please, somebody, reach out to me so I can get rolling with Dart.

Hey I feel your pain I just got my cdl's in October 2009 and can't find anyone to take a chance on me with a job opportunity. I'm an excellent driver passed my test both driving and written the first time around. But I have one felony on my record and everybody shoots me down because of it. I served my time and probation and just want to be able to take care of my family. I have three boys and a wife and desire nothing but to take care of them. But I either need verifiable experience or can't have any felonies, which sucks for me cause I don't qualify for either one of those scenario's. And it sucks because I'm a very hard worker just need a chance. I'm thankful to God For all he has giving me and still pray daily that he will bless me with just and opportunity to prove myself.

He Leroy most of your comments are uncalled for. Just sayin.

You would be saying the same thing if McCain won. It doesn't matter who is president, it's just easy to put the blame on someone, right?

It's scholar by the way.

I am glad you took the time to be correcting me...so too I am glad the FORUM is here for the purpose as I used it to state what I wanted as I still live in AMERICA and my RIGHTS has not changed now and never will. So as to your reply oh well it took up space and time as I read it and replied but too if your so smart, I did say I didnt need any replys but it goes to show there are always those that will have the itch to say something even if it dont make beans or butter about nothing.

Are you trolling me? FYI, my comment made more sense than yours. Everybody always wants to blame someone else. Again if McCain was president you would blame him. The economy doesn't get fixed over night. There is no magic wand to wave over it. 95% of the time your forum post are out of line. You are no better than anyone here, but you seem to think you are.

Listen fellow drivers their is no need for all this hate and and bull that goes on this is to help people and for driver to say thing that make since . We do not have to be so hateful to one another it takes a big man to sit back and not reply and it takes a mouthy person to always think that he needs the last say well it never stops cause a person who thinks that he know's everything will always think that he is right . So if we don't reply to that kind they will get pissed off and it will just go away so just don't answer them to keep it going we don't need this stuff on here !! Hello Old Fart nice to see you on here again sure do miss ya hope all is well with you this is Mrs, T - Bone God be with you and all the best in the world !! Take care my friend

Hi Mrs. T/Bone,

Yes, still here. Everything is going good but as with most people today things are tight. Miss driving but I am doing well in college and will be getting my degree in October. Had an old employer try to talk me into getting my CDL's again (Dump truck hauling hot-mix). I told him thanks but no thanks. I miss driving but not the bull, aggravation, DOT man, overzealous cops and the like. Its also good being home as my wife can work with me managing the RV park I am at now.Hope all is well with you and may God bless you. With all the regulations, cost, and time away from home I reaaly give all the drivers here credit. 35 years of driving just burnt me out. The change has been good for me.

I tried to be honest about my convictions to 4 seperate companies and here is how it turned out; I str8 up listed my convctions for burglary, and sexual assault on my application (2 totally seperate incidents that I did 2 years in prison for) I was convicted in 1995 when I was 23, of stealing computers and then got out on bond, threw a party, and slept with a 15 yo girl, whose mom turned up at my doorstep with the police the next day. talk about a bad week!)....anyway, I have been driving since 1998, no dui's, no legal trouble since, no tickets or moving violations, perfect record...
I applied to 2 national carriers; Snyder and England...and 2 local companies here in OMaha. I was honest about my convictions. After all, it was 15 years ago...and I had gotten an expungement order for the sex case...However, when Snyder and England seen that I was being honest with them...and told them about the sex conviction...they stopped the application process in it's tracks and refused to proceed. Simply over that issue alone. Even though it had been 15 years, and the case was expunged. WHY? because the insurance company, or the company itself did not want to risk the liability of hiring an x sex offender.
The Two local companies however, hired me, simply because I was being honest with them.
I actually make more at the local companies anyway...with alot more decent hometime.
My advice to anyone looking for a job with a national carrier is...if you have a felony conviction...dont lie about it...Be str8 up. And screw them if they turn you down!
Ive got almost a million safe miles under my belt. Its the company itself that is missing out in my opinion.
Some will hire you, and some will simply turn you down. However if you are a good person, and you just be honest and look hard enough... you will find good work and prosper.
God Bless all of those of you dealing with idiotic companies who are prejudiced by your past. Everyone deserves a second shot at life.

well, it's been almost 3 yrs since my last REAL job and I'm on the verge of calling it quits. I've had 4 jobs in the last 2 1/2 yrs and each one of them have screwed me, either by not paying me or letting me go and stranding me in a state other than the one in which I live. All this because I was in an accident that was not my fault. Lost my home, had to sell nearly everything I own to pay bills and now on the verge of being homeless. But willing to give it one last shot before throwing in the towel, if anyone can tell me of a company that might be willing to hire me I would appreciate your input. Thanks everyone. I was involved in an accident back in Oct of '07 and because of this I am finding that there isn't a company out there willing to hire me for a period of 3 yrs, which I can and do understand. My quetion is this, "How am I suppose to drive and be accident free for that 3 yr period if no one will hire me"? Somewhat of a catch 22 situation, damned if I do and damned if I don't. I need help really bad with this problem. About 2 years ago I had one preventable accident with this company and they fired me. There was no one hurt no vehicles had to be towed away. I was given a ticket for $215.00 but when I went to court I didn’t have to pay a cent. In side of my DAC report it has (hit while moving). For the last two years I was trying to get back out there driving trucks again. Do any one know a company that will hire me.

Man I am sick and tired of these companies out here is this country. I have paid the money for the CDL school. I have cleaned up my driving in my personal vehicle, and they still will not give me a shot. I had 4 tickets for speeding when I was about 20. I have since then not had a problem with the law. I had a fast car, a hot temper, and a job that did not care if I had my lisence. I paid all of my fines, got my lisence back, and have been a good boy ever since. I have hired a lawyer to try and get somethings that are showing up off of there, but as you all know lawyers work at a snails pace. I just want to drive. I do not care for who, how long, or where we go, or what I drive. I am just sick and tired of getting let down, day after day, steadily searching, and nothing coming up. I swear to god if one more company sends me a "pre-hire" before they take a look at my stuff, I am going to sue the crap out of them for falsified information. I am 26, white, and a family man looking for a break, no felonies, no misdemeanors, and I used to be an Iron Worker in the union. The economy is gone, no work, so I spend what money I have left to go back to school and this is what I get. people wonder why some people resort to illegal activity, and felons cannot quit the life of crime, well if I am being treated like this for some speeding ticket I got when I was in my early tweenties no wonder. These people act like I killed someone, I mean I have gotten let down so many times I just as soon go outside and kill myself. I just want to drive, If anyone knows of an owner/operator that is willing to give me a shot please god email me at the above address. I just need a break, don't care where I drive or for who, I just want to drive.
