As you know each year ecomomy is slow and trucking is slow spo unless your in the mood to become owner operator it may be mid spring before trucking or any form of job openings will be available and those will go to the ones with 1 minor infraction / demerit to zero tolerance on DMV record it will be harder now than ever as alot of people are out of work. So if you are praying for a position your best bet is become owner operator with you own business and runn 6 years to even break even paying only truck leases and insurances not to include trip losses or pray you have no scale charges.

I am a freight broker and at the current time freight is slow and drivers are not getting the money they need. That is why I am moving on to Enlyten. You can work at home and make great money. Also we have energy strips that my drivers love. It is similar to drinking a red bull except it is on a strip like Listerine. Check it out www.enlyten.com/richie |

I don't have a cdl and I have a clean record. No convictions and no dui. and no points on my regular drivers license. I just want to know would I get hired if I graduated with a cdl? I am interested in going to cdl school and was wondering if the $2500 tuition would be a worthy investment. With the economy as bad as it is, is it still easy to get a job otr for an inexperienced grad? |

LeRoy in Lynchburg, Virginia 39 months ago |
You are a GREAT candidate after graduation your the type of operators they are looking for nothing negative on your DAC report so YES there are J.O.B.S. for you I would choose PRIME to get my feet wet...Realize not everyone is cut out to be a driver long hours on the road always have to be on your top driving skills to manuever around other drivers and in tight places, You may not always be home for those closest holidays you enjoy but too the payoff is Great you will have a job.

Another area to look at is... Your State may pay for this training ? Contact your job center ,and ask about training...WIA program, to be more specific |

If she cant be any clear than that I am afraid we dont need any driver behind the wheel of a truck with 80,000 lbs. rolling down the Interstate, I see miss loads and unclear directions as to even which trailer to hook up too. Trucking is for Professionals. Lets Keep it that way. |

Well, I'm sorry to hear that lady driver.
Truck drivers everywhere are suffering, ..Loads are lower than ever before, drivers with perfect records are looking for work, and the economy is not looking any better. Driving may be better in a couple of years? Good Luck ! |

A bunch of GARBAGE I must step in a state this I myself being a PROFESSIONAL Operator there is this required step called pretrip and during the route inspections and a post trip or end of the day so to not see damage of any form that wasnt there before the start of the day I dont care how you try to color it damage was there and no you cant blame someone else for your responsibilties as a driver, you might find a J.O.B. as a dump truck driver or cab driver but no company wants there equipment damaged my negligance.
|
|
lady driver in Indianapolis, Indiana 38 months ago |
wrong again there was no damage to the trailer at all i know my responsibilities as a driver and dont need your rude comment to lift my day i take responsibility for all my actions had i known this happened i myself would have called the police and being as it was on private property no action or citation would have been given so why would i not report i have a clean crimminal history and driving history until this matter and i dont plan on starting one now this wqs due to lack or experience and that is all.

WTF EVER I am driving a 2008 Freightliner so you can B/S all you want your the one crying you cant drive due to unable to find a J.O.B. and YES I clearly have a RIGHT to shout when you come on FORUMS and cry your problems I see clearly your attitude I doubt you will ever drive anything requiring CDL A or B so I stand on PROFESSIONALISM and you clearly show your not at all you dont want to take on the responsibility in FACT YOU SCREWED UP

What is happening to this country, when experienced drivers cannot get a job, we are in trouble here... We each have 30 yrs. experience driving truck and I was also has Heavy Eq. experience. my wife was hauling nitro at the age of 19 and I had even hauled fuel for the shuttle and also highly explosive fuels. There is nothing that we haven't hauled or drove in the past 30 yrs. I have won 8 Emmy awards in the past 8 yrs. (Nascar)and 2 of those are for his truck driving abilty. My wife 2 emmy awards in 2007 for my truck driving ability. (We were shocked when we recieved it, thought only for tech work and movie stars) But we cannot get employment in our own country. We are going on 6 months now without working. OTR companies (including the low of the low) here will not hire us because of the way a law was written, excluding television production drivers from the federal rules and reg. in reference to the amount of hours they can drive. But, people want to read the law and understand it in their own way. It has nothing to do with us, (nascar)only movie companies who are in a location for a period of time and TV trucks that go to disasters. So they look at us as being inexpeienced. |
|

oops, on my second paragragh....my wife also recieved 2 emmys in 2007 for her driving. |

To be honest and I am glad you asked I paid my dues many times over I drove for the U.S. Army 1976 to 1985 and then I drove anything that had 2 1/2 ton registration or above up to 5 ton meanig from a oil truck to garbage company to tractor trailer in the 1980's to a city bus 1982 thru 1999 then records will show I got DUI 1999 and I made any and all request asked of me due to one mistake I made myself a promise and no one else and I paid my dues for it 6 months in jail on a 10 year probation and I went Southside Virginia Community College and got my CDL A back refresher course then I went and put out about 200 apps then I was asked one day to show what I knew I did that and since then I have drove all types of trucks to now I am driver of a 2008 Freightliner and I have 5 plus points on my MVR I had the charges exsponged I have many request of how I did that but I will tell you no one has the funds it takes to do that so I wont recommend it nor go into it I did it as I knew what I can do and what I wanted in LIFE and now I can say I am A TRUE PROFESSIOANAL TRUCKER with over a MILLION miles award I can say this with TRUETH and back every word up, hope I helped out side those that want to stay at the eating shops and wished they were a TRUCKER holding a plate in their hands turning it like they are driving a truck but they forget they are behind a table with a plate in their hands dreaming to be a TRUCKER driving. SAFER as long as they dont leave the table. |

They find every excuse in the world to not to hire experienced drivers and they wonder why their trucks are flipped over on the side of the highway. They don't even teach a driver to drive a 13, 15, 4x4, 5x3 transmissions anymore... they just stick an automatic transmission in and hand them their license. |
