I believe you are going to Sanford Brown in Texas. Any info you can pass on would be greatly appreciated. From what I understand they are fully accredited. I hope it is okay that I addressed this to you. TY. |

Batman, Not all SBI locations are accredited. I assume your looking at the one in New Jersey or in Houston Texas? Both have locations that are accredited for the general DMS program. If your looking at CVT programs, etc. I can't tell you rather or not they fill that accreditation. If your interested in the Houston location, I can tell you it's a good program so far. Acceptance is straight forward. You need a minimum of so many college units, I believe it's around 50-60 units (They do consider vocational school units to, but only for classes which relate towards the program your applying for). So many of the units have to be in science, etc. If you do not meet those college unit requirements, they allow you to take an MA program to get the units. (Although I'd recommend just doing a Community college and get your units, vs MA). You need to take a standard exam at time of application. Real easy test that just wants to see if your proficient at very basic mathematics, and English. You have three interviews or so. First the your rep, then the admissions director, then the school president. All of which were very nice people. At other locations and schools I have heard of the car salesman attitude, but honestly I never got that vibe here. I wasn't being sold on any other programs, etc. So far the instructors I've had are awesome. Very helpful. Although they are tough compared to any college I've ever been to. But you do learn a lot from it. Ive been able to get any questions from them answered, and they have always been available for tutorials. Location in Houston isn't the best neighborhood, but it's never been an issue for me. It's a fenced private lot, and they have all night security there. Lets see, trying to think of anything else you might be wondering.. The DMS program director Wendy Fuller is also very nice. She has a lot of experience in the field, and she is always there for questions purposes, or just to talk about the career. |

(Continued) I can honestly say that I've probably never worked harder for the grades I've gotten so far. Some might feel thats a turn off. These instructors do not spoon feed people information. I've seen that become an issue for people who are more used to being told exactly what to study, rather than studying the whole thing. Because of the pace of the school this makes it difficult. When I was in a Radiologic Technology program a while back, I found the classes to be extremely easy. Test polices were liberal (one retake per mod, which ends up being 20 or so total final retakes in the entire program) vs SBI which allows for only two total final retakes in the entire program. I went from studying the night before in RT, and getting A's on practically everything, to now at SBI, studying all week and barely getting B's. But it's not because of the instructors, it's because the course work is tough. And if your not independent and able to make yourself dedicate the need amount of time to studying you wont do well. I'd recommend it so far highly. The sites, grades, graduation rates, are all on file at my location. You can see it all. And the fact they are CAAHEP approved until 2012 is a good indication of how good the program is there. If you have more questions, feel free to ask.
