could anyone help?

i need some help.
im a high school senior really wanting to become an u/s tech, but im not sure if i should go to xray school then go to u/s school. or should i skip xray school and go straight into u/s? do you think that i can make it into the program without the back ground of any medical profession?
ive been volunteering at my local hospital in the u/s department for 9 months and i am pretty sure that this is what i want to do.
