I am about to graduate with my B.S. I am going to work for a year to pay for my upcoming wedding and to pay off some debt. I'm then going to apply to two sonography programs. On requires a 2.5 GPA and the other claims that you need a 3.0 to have a competitive edge. Once my undergrad is complete, I'll only have a 2.6. For the last 2 years of my undergrad, I've been taking courses that I've not been interested in at all. I just wanted to complete my B.S. My question is, how can I stand out despite the GPA. I'm totally passionate about sonography and want so badly to be accepted. Any suggestions? |

I have done my homework and am very comfortable with my choice of Institue of Medical Ultrasound (IMU) in Atlanta. I also have my degree so sitting for my registry exam will not be an issue. They allowed me to sit in and watch their hands on lab session that pretty much had all the students performing ultrasounds over the 3-4 hours I was there. I will be doing much of my clinical work here in Macon, and Robin Chamberlain was instrumental in assisting me obtain placement. I experienced no sales pressure while there. I met with faculty and students, and witnessed one of their hands on labs. I was informed that due to the competitive nature of seats there, there is no need for a hard sell. They actually only want mature, motivated candidates. Many of their students are older, and decided to make a career change. Check out their web site, call or visit them. I would encourge you to see, and speak to the staff, and students. I was also told that they have applied and starting the process to become accredited. |
