Jykes in Fresh Meadows, New York said: I just went to the IAMP in long island, NY today and I am thinking of attending there for the Diagnostic Medical Sonography. It was in a gorgeous building. I was able to see the rooms with all the scanning machines and it was all put very well together. Also, the LI school is affiliated with St. Francis College in Brooklyn, so they offer a joined program where we can receive our bachelors degree. Bachelors degree means we can take the ARDMS right away. Has anyone gone to this school? If so I would appreciate an opinion. I got a really good vibe from the school. Hope this helped out some people who are looking into the field in NY! I attended IAMP LI and it is not very organized it took 1 year to complete a 6 mo internship and I am not the only student with this problem there are many others... the internship sights that they do have are not very good although they have a few good ones they do not out weight the bad.. Hopefully it will improve with the help of St. Frances we went through many staff replacement situations from several teachers to several new directors.. think hard and do lots of homework before you decide, its alot of money to spend to be unsatisfied and have no leads on work the job placement is a joke I don't know of anyone that they got a job for at all!! and you need to go throught the NY Manhatten site for job placement |

svet in New York, New York said: Yes Indeed Writing to Attorney General seems like the right idea. do you know if anyone has indeed taken steps in that direction? Is there any recourse against the schools pushing these loans for a product that is virtually useless even though the schools have covered their a$$es in other areas. SB had been sued about 10 years ago under the name Ultrasound Diagnostic School and settled for about 7.5 mil, they changed their name and are doing the same things or were doing the same things while continuing to lie to the students. Sallie Mae has been aware of what has been going on, aware that so many students cannot get jobs due to this yet they continue to write all these loans knowing we are all stuck. |

if i didn't land my dream job i'd be with u guys fighting against the school, too bad i can't do it now but trust me my job had nothing to do either with the school or connections, its just me being a maniac and my attitude and some weird luck. It doesn't happen to every new grad and I wush u all guys luck, and if u start with the legal proceedings against the place and win i'd me happy. |

Make up your mind . You don't know enough yet to have an opinion about what goes on in the medical field, go back to Junior High "little girl,", you don't matter as much as you think you do. Your opinion doesn't matter outside of your little cyberworld, the only reason I know about you is because techs look at this website and people who are "green" like you and have a good laugh. Thanks for the entertainment Moron. u r welcome , retard |

I finished the program in the Long Island campus of LI IAMP in July and have been unsuccessful on finding a job.. I have sent many resumes and not a call back only ones saying that they are looking for experienced techs not new grads..any leads on employment or even a volunteer position at this time would be helpful... Open for suggestions.. All I am finding is registered positions with 2 or more years of experience which I obviously do not have... or OB/ GYN registered.. HELP!!!! |

depressed and broke in Lindenhurst, New York said: First of all if anyone made it through the program they are obviously not dumb second I think it has a lot to do with who you know not what you know if you didn't kiss a--- in school you didn't get the best internship sights (if you had no connections of you own that is) Even with a 3.8 average and ambition you got no where.. So why don't you think before you open your mouth... It's not that easy to land a decent job without a bachelors and being able to sit for your registry right away... SINCE YOU ARE ULTRATECH HOW ABOUT SHARING THE WEALTH WITH THE LESS FORTUNATE All, I am new to this forum, although I read it often. I too feel your pain of unemployment. I went to an accredited school. I am a registered tech who hasnt worked as are many of my classmates. At first, I thought it was me, then I blamed the school. but at the end of the day, it was me who didnt do the research or anticipate the job market. I recently had a social discussion with a person who works as a manager for a OB/GYN. She told me about the flood of ultrasound applications they get for every position. She also told me it didnt matter if my resume came from NYU, IAMP, Downstate or Sanford Brown. They would interview everyone and make a decision based off the interview. The problem is not the school you went to (as you can tell from my situation), but the Job Market. I am now looking into jobs out of state, I will keep everyone posted on how that goes. |

Hi D...Its not the school, its the job market. I know people who have jobs who graduated from IAMP and people who dont have jobs from NYU and vice versa. My advice is if you really want to be an Ultrasound tech right now, make sure you know someone who will hire you or atleast give you a shot. Or look into what Im doing, which is out of state Jobs |

I agree with "new to Forum". I to recently graduated from IAMP. I speak with my classmates often, many of them are working, but some of us are not. Even though we were not promised a job, its frustrating to see your friends working while your sitting home, when we all took the same class. New to Forum, can you tell me what states your are looking into? Are there less saturated states/cities? |

These people have to pay for stealing my money using false promises and the time that I wasted let alone all the stress that came along with it... I agree.... I was told I didnt need to take two more classes and that I was done with School. so i dropped the classes. The person i gave the drop class paper to the "ADVOSR" and she never handed it in and processed it. They never contacted me, apparently they decided i needed these two classes i droped (dropped them because i was told i didnt need them to graduate) in order to get my associates. No one advised me of anything !!! i have been working and through many backround checks. I recieved an opportunity to work for a prodominent accounting firm and they too did a search to only find out that I did not have an associates. I did not walk for graduation, because walking is in May and i was done in August. Low and behold I am degree less, possibly job less because it looks like i lied and the people i have been speaking to at the college can see that there was a clear mis communication, however, they wont write a letter on my behalf to my new job becasue if they do write a letter, I can SUE THEM !! They ripped me off and told me things there werent true. In the past two days i have been told i need to take two classes to today, I need to take SIX CLASSES... SO TIRED OF THE LIES AND WE ARE AMERICANS AND WE OWE IT TO OURSELVES AND THE FUTURE STUDENTS TO GET THIS COLLEGE OFF THE LIST OF SCHOOLS !!!!! THEY ARE LIARS AND THEIVES!!! |

sc rockvill centre in Oceanside, New York said: are you serious the school no good iam suppose to start in march .............iam sick about all the rumor that i read You have have Boces, Molloy (CVT only) and even Sanford Brown all with accredited programs in your area. There is no reason to seriously consider IAMP given all that in your back yard. You will not be registry eligable, and won't be first pick among employers vs the other grads from accredited programs, you don't know for sure if your clinical experience will be sufficient enough to be taken serously. Please take this all into account and do your own research. Best of Luck |

I orginally went there because I wanted to go into the Ultra Sound program.. I was told I needed more credits so I decided to take the medical Assistant. I am currently almost done with that class and I was told that now you need a Bachelor's Degree to get into the program. I am very disappointed that they have changed the rules. I feel like my time there has been a waste of time. The school is ok...they have their problems but I think every school does. |

ultratech in Ardsley, New York said: Sounds to me like you were fired, following your posts shows that you aren't that ethical or "noble". You seem generally miserable and cynical. After working in the field for many years, people with your attitude don't last. Maybe you quit because you need to spend your time complaining on line and work interfered with it. Could you please read twice, before throwing biased replies. Do you believe that some one could resign for ethical reason? If you don't, then go back to school and complete your ethics lessons. You are right about "people with your attitude don't last". And that's the real problem with America now. People like you still support and promote unethical behavior in medical community. |

I have had a horrible expirence as well with IAMP manhattan campus. I am currently an intern and hopeing to find a job once im done with my internship i have three more months to go. But if i knew everything i know now about the school and their sites i would have never registered to that school its a waste of your money and it puts you through a lot of stress. at the begining they talk a good game and when my clinical supervisor sent me to the site she told me it was one of her best sites. and if they consider that best i can just imagine their other sites. I wouldnt recommend this school at all. |
