Hi, Can anyone tell me what kind of science/math skills or knowledge they feel is necessary to be a success in this field? Or do you think as long as you are fairly intelligent you can pick that part up with time and client interaction skills etc are more important? Thanks Devon |

You can do this as long as you are fairly intelligent. Anything you really need will be taught in class. You just have to be prepared to study and memorize alot of stuff! |

It is not an easy profession. it is more than terms and anatomy- it's pathology, embryology, physics, physiology, instrumentation,... i could go on and on. There is a reason as to why the field pays well! |

I mean you say there is a reason why the field pays so well, but I have been in finance the last three years and the pay is double at least then what is being paid to a Radiology Tech. Thats not why I'm looking to get into this field at all, that I can tell you!! |

Is ultrasound tech a dying field? Do you think that with medical advances they will phase out techs? Or that the machines will be able to run themselfes? |

Or that the machines will be able to run themselfes? yeah that will never happen. Ultrasound is a safer alternative to other imaging modalites and the gold standard for certain exams. A machine would never be able to run its self.... The tech does all the work. |

more questions: I also read the job market for this position is predicted to be very good in the coming years. Can anyone validate this statement? I'm not currently working and I really have to think a lot how I'm going to support me since this program's only offered in the day time. I need to have a piece of mind by knowing that I will get a job by the time I finish my 2-year degree. So far, I have no experience in healthcare. thx again. |
