Mostly female. I can't tell you the general ratio, but where I work there are 14 females techs and 3 male techs (including myself) covering ultrasound.

Whenever I got on the websites I never see any males and I was beginning to have second thoughts about this profession. I want to know is the work seperated between the males and females? And does both genders work on the same task? Or is there a particular task that pertain to each women or men? HELP I NEED TO KNOW.

There are 8 of us where I work and I am the only male..............but I have never worried about the male/female issue. This is my 15th year in ultrasound.

And if you are a single male do your best not to date any female co-workers in the hospital and that will help your survival rate!!!!! (I don't care how beautiful she is either!!!)

I retiring early from the post office and would like to go to college for a short-term career course. I've worked in the hospital before as a ward clerk and as a pharmacy tech back in the seventies before computers were in vogue. I'm interested in sonogram tech but am worried if this is only a female oriented job and would be passed over for employment. Also, I am only interested in part-time work.
