I am considering applying to Wayne County Community College for their tech program, since it's affiliated with WSU and they have evening classes, but I know MSU has the 2 and 4-year programs as well.
I am a nontrad student (38 yrs old) and can't really afford to quit work. Anyone attend either WCCC or MSU and what was your experience like? Do you think clinics would preferentially hire an MSU grad due to its being connected closely with the vet school?
WCCC seems to focus on lab animal medicine, how are the clinical rotations (especially for large animal, which I'm interested in, having had horses growing up).

If you already have a BA (I actually went to MSU and got my BA), is the MSU program shorter, since you've taken your 'core' classes?

Anyone who has info to share, I'd appreciate it!
Thanks-
Kim

The program isn't going to be shorter particularly because of the way that the specifically veterinary technology courses are laid out. Specific courses are typically only offered during 1 semester each year and you have to have take the courses in a certain order because they build on each other so much.

I can't help you will figuring out about the quality and reputation of the school since I'm not from Michigan, but you could contact your state veterinary technician association and ask some questions about the school's reputation.
