John, have you ever had your question answered? State licensure is variable from state to state. Most have gone the route of regulating the practice. Practice is defined in the statute. Actually, very few states specifically address voc rehab counselors. Most are counselor licensure and the work that voc rehab counselors do would fall within the scope of practice. Almost all that I know of require testing, specific curricula in master's program, lots of paperwork, and paying a fee. Whether one has or does not have a CRC is not a factor. Hope this helps. |

All states BVR agencies require the CRC (certified rehabilitation Counselor) or eligible for it per the new Federal guidelines (2006). Now that said, not all agencies require it, Job Corps (122 nationwide)is a great place to work and grow (they often hire those nearing a degree and those with recent degrees). Goodwills don't require it but like to see the CRC. More important to them seems to be some social work certification/license (varies by state). Good luck John in Tucson, Arizona said: Which states have the strictest licensing requirements for Voc. Rehab. Counselors. |
