What is the best training for becoming a vocational rehabilitation counselor? What types of ongoing training or certifications are necessary to be an effective vocational rehabilitation counselor? What do non-traditional career paths look like? |

I can answer part of your question. Non-traditional career paths can include but are not limited to the following: rehabilitation therapist, mental health/family/individual/group therapist, social work, some type of general counselor or case manager position, and forensic rehabilitation. Traditional career paths can include: working for state DVR, Workers Comp Private Rehab. I am looking for a job with state DVR because I like the job security and benefits. I don't want to give my name but if you want more information, you can email me at lorraine_us@yahoo.com. |

You have to complete a practicum and an internship in order to get the degree. You have to take the Certified Rehabilitation Counselor exam and pass. It really opens up doors for you. If you want to be a specialist in Reemployment Services (private sector rehab), you need to become a Qualified Rehabilitation Provider. |

What does your requirement scale of one to three in the order of most urgent mean? In other words what does one stand for? What does two stand for? What does three stand for? My case is urgent. Which Number would apply to me? Thanks much. |
