Hi, I work at a Japanese stake house as a waitress. We have full bar without a bartender, and also have grills for hibachi and sushi tables as well. There is no host. During Monday - Friday the owner is a cashier (the restaurant opens at 11-2:30; the owner comes at 12:30) until then the waitress to the serving hosting and also cashier. From the total tip owner takes 50% for company and from the credit card tip take out 5% for credit card fee and add to his 50% tip. During the week day two waitresses share 45% , on weeken there's 10% tipping out to busboy so four waitress split remaining 35%
Also we split the bar tip and Togo tip in the same way as well. I understand that Japanese hibachi restaurant have to tip out to chef's salary, but I don't know how much owner can take waitress's tip. I live in GA and how don't know how the law works. Should I call the labor department?
And can owner take out credit card fee from the tip?
