I Worked Hard... in Montebello, California

Hello Mr. Redlin! Thanks for the opportunity! hey this guy is the real deal. His company sells advertising to businesses as well as website design & hosting services! I saw his post in another thread here, thought he was full of crap, but with two possession of pot tickets under one ounce, and one felony for 2 ounces with intent to distribute, and a suspended driver's license, I was despirate and runnin out of options. I took a shot and it worked out really good. That was a month ago.

I am working about four & a half hours to six a day, no quotas or anything, and I am still averaging at least 1 sale a day with an average price tag of $140 and so far I have made in the neighborhood of $6,000 and it's cool because I am contracted, so I get to take care of the taxes at the end of the year and I get to keep my whole check which I really need right now. They ask you what you got in trouble for, but unless you got caught messing with kids or embezzlement they don't even care. I just got my brother a job there two weeks ago and he did a 5er for b&e and agrivated assault on a cop.

Thanks for giving us a chance Frank! I thought I was screwed, and you didn't lie, it's not easy work, but it's worth it knowing I ain't going and getting locked up and we are actually helping people! Both people to work who need it and companys that are losing money and need to cut fat.

Hello, Yes my background has been pardon and the process was very lengthy but worth it. The steps I took was first writing a grievence letter to the Governor, then I wrote a grievence letter to the pardon and parole board, I also had my family and friends to write letters of charactor and it worked for me my background has now been pardon.

Thanks for the feedback. Did you have to use an attorney? What kind of crime was yours?

Greetings, this is by God's beautiful grace that I found this site. I am in tears from what just happen to me.

I have been for over 5 years when I get laid off as many others in my organzated has. I have applied to several good jobs (from hospital Lab Assistants, Secretary, File Clerk, Unit Secreatary, Administrative Assistant, Retail Sales and so forth) to not getting a call back. Then I get a call for a job offer and 5 days later the offer has been taken away. BACKGROUND CHECK! Damn it........

I have been out of work for 7 months now and I am at my wits end in all of this. I have certificate of training in everything from Lab Assistant, Adminstrative Assistant to Computer Operator (Data Entry) to name a few and nothing has panned out for me. I am about a finger nail close to losing my mind, my house, my unemployemtn checks, food stamps, lights, gas and internet services to be cut off, auto insurance to lapse and I can go on.

I have prayed, still praying and I am just ready to............GOD HELP ME!

I have a pardon for all of my property crimes (Thief of Property, Receving Stolen Property, and Worthless checks) from 1995. BUT I AM NOT ABLE TO GAIN RE-ENTRY FOR A JOB!

I have almost all of these comments and most have me back to crying because I understand, I truly understand. I don't know what else to do.
Can someone help me......

Please remember that not only are felons having a hard time finding employment but everyone is. I am not a felon, have no past history of any crimes, unfortunately I lost my job 6 months ago and am not getting any call backs either. Before the recession most employers had to select from 10-15 people, now they receive hundreds of applications. Please read my other post that will guide you on how to answer questions and etc when you get a call..
Good luck! Dont give up!!

Felony 1992, never been involved in the criminal Justis system since. 2 years probation, laid off in 2006 and have not had a permanent job since. There is absolutely no help. It's been 17 years and since they started using background checks, I have lost every temp to perm job (2) I've had since 2006, due to the background check

I wake up mad everyday because I did not die the night before. Nothing and I mean nothing will get us past the felony label.

Not education, job skill, resumes, interviewing skills, I have them all.

I'm just waiting for my unemployment to run out and then.....

Homelessness and then death. How can you live without hope? Hope of a better day. All I see in my future is Homeless shelters and maybe MacDonald if they will have me. I'm almost 50 years old. I used to be happy and now I have no happiness. I have given up.

Greetings All,

I am a bit confused here. I got the information to contact my local Urban League about a bond. These people had no ideal what I was talking about. A call to the National office was done with me hearing on the speaker they don't do this either. The lady was nice and took it upon herself to do a web search and make a few calls, while I was in the office and told me to write Washington Federal Bonding Company.

Have anyone heard of this Bonding Company in D.C.? I am trying my best to stay focus and sane. With everything so near to being cut-off, ending of benefits and being put out. I am trying not to give up.

Can someone help? Anyone got any other ideals.....I like Lifer in New Jersey....beginning to see 1 thing in my future living on the streets under a bridge, or in a homeless shelter for however long we can stay and I can forget Mickey D's. I interviewed with 4 of them and each told me I was overqualifed and a RISK! Go figure

Dear Brighteyes,

A. Federal Bonding Program
The Federal Bonding Program provides fidelity bonding insurance coverage to individuals with criminal histories and other high-risk job applicants who are qualified, but fail to get jobs because regular commercial bonding is denied due to their backgrounds.

www.bonds4jobs.com/

B. Tax Credits
The Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) is a federal tax credit to reduce the federal tax liability of private for profit employers to be used as an incentive for employers to hire individuals from eight different targeted groups: TANF recipients, veterans, ex-felons, high risk youth, summer youth, Food Stamp recipients, SSI recipients, and vocational rehabilitation referrals.

Check with your local unemployment office, your PO/ ex PO.. YOur attorney general office.. They should all be aware of the Bonding program as well as tax credits.. I have added much info under this post and others..
Check your state and see if the employers get a tax credit state and federal for hiring felons. Do a search for "tax credit for hiring felons"
Also check on the Bonding a felon FIDELITY BONDING, Check out this site www.bonds4jobs.com/index.html

I usually don't send many e-mails....but just a second ago I rechecked my In-box and look what was there......this maybe old for some and new to others. But something I thought I would share. Be Blessed!

WHAT A WONDERFUL MESSAGE!!!!!!!!

The necklace
The cheerful little girl with bouncy golden curls was almost five. Waiting with her mother at the checkout stand, she saw them, a circle of glistening white pearls in a pink foil box.
"Oh mommy please, Mommy. Can I have them? Please, Mommy, please?"
Quickly the mother checked the back of the little foil box and then looked back into the pleading blue eyes of her little girl's upturned face…
"A dollar ninety-five. That's almost $2.00. If you really want them, I'll think of some extra chores for you and in no time you can save enough money to buy them for yourself. Your birthday's only a week away and you might get another crisp dollar bill from Grandma."
As soon as Jenny got home, she emptied her penny bank and counted out 17 pennies. After dinner, she did more than her share of chores and she went to the neighbor and asked Mrs. McJames if she could pick dandelions for ten cents. On her birthday, Grandma did give her another new dollar bill and at last she had enough money to buy the necklace.
Jenny loved her pearls. They made her feel dressed up and grown up. She wore them everywhere, Sunday school, kindergarten, even to bed. The only time she took them off was when she went swimming or had a bubble bath. Mother said if they got wet, they might turn her neck green.
Jenny had a very loving daddy and every night when she was ready for bed, he would stop whatever he was doing and come upstairs to read her a story. One night as he finished the story, he asked Jenny, "Do you love me?"
"Oh yes, daddy. You know that I love you."
"Then give me your pearls."
"Oh, daddy, not my pearls. But you can have Princess, the white horse from my collection, the one with the pink tail.. Remember, daddy? The one you

Marcus you made a valid point about being judged for the rest of of our lives, for past deeds, it does not make any sense, but that is how the system is set up, and it truly hurts a lot of black people, especially the men. Just keep trying and one of these days, something good will happen. Try to keep your current record clean. It's hard to do, when faced with no income, but resorting back to the old lifestyle, of crime will not be productive. Remember, it is better to be free than, to be locked up, or on probation, and or parole. I'm so broke right now, but I'm also, so free. (Food for thought). smile.

I signed the package as a goodwill with my roommate's permission, and did not know that the merchandise was purchased with a stolen credit card. Neither did the owner of the credit card show up in court. In spite of that, I was given a felony conviction of 2 year probabtion, 40 hours of community service, and a fine of $650.00. The prosecution claims that the alleged merchandise was valued at $438.00 although, they were unable to produce the merchandise as evidence in court. Prior to this, I had no criminal record and no arrest. My court appointed attorney lied to me to plead a "no contest", and that my conviction would be expunged after my 2 year probation. We are in 2009 and the record has not been expunged. I don't have the money to hire an attorney to file for a re-trial of my case. Can anyone help me please.

How horrible.. You can contact your governors office and request a pardon.Contact the attorney generals office in your state and ask about the Second Chance. Also some of the local churches may be working with felons and working on the Second Chance. In Iowa it is the Catholic Charities. You can try contact also your local Senators office to get more info. Good Luck

First of all your record can be esponged. IT is a process that you have to file with the county the crime was committed. You need to contact the county and get the form and process the paper work. Right now you must find your passion and start a business doing it. I have a business if you would like to work with my company forward me your resume and I will set you up for orientation in my next group in August.

Thanks,

Goodmorning everyone! Let me tell you a ittle bit about myself and my situation! At the moment i am 33 years old! I was forced to raise myself at an early age growing up in an apartment with my grandmother in the world of alcoholism. Make the long story short i was pregnant at 16 and her her at 17. My daughter was molested by her own father it stopped around the age of 6 years old, when she told me! I took legal action and of course the legal way didnt work so i attemted to take actions into my own hands! My grandmother found a handgun and told me if i was to kill him i will never see my daughter, that i was acting on anger!! So at this time i needed help and couldnt get any So, i turned to the streets and called myself getting help to the point that in November of 1998 i had a fight with a caucasion female that turned out to be an exchange student from florida. I thought it was over until i had to go to court for tresspassing and the courts dismissed my case and told me that i was wanted in the hoding area and i was taking by Manhatten Robbery squad! I didnt know what the heck was going on, I didnt rob anyone. Come to find out it was the girl i had fought! They had put in a messed up line up where i stood out so of course i was identified! So i was offered 3.5 to 7 years then i wanted to take it to trial and if i was to do that the ( court appointed) lawyer was talking about 7.5 to 15 if i blew so i went with 3.5 to 7, at this point im listening to time ranges! i didnt know any better so i copped to 3.5 to 7 then the laws changed for violent felonies. so i wound up doing 3 years and 5 years of post release supervision. While i was doing my 3 years. I found out they were scarring me to railroad me. I never been in trouble my first felony. All that court stuff scarred me. So after I had gotten off of parole i immediately went and picked up my dispositions, I was told that i was soppose to had been charged witha an assualt. So i asked what does that mean, I got scarred

As far as your LPN license get it anyway, You never know when that door is going to open for you! I havn't giving up yet and i wont!! Im looking into going back to school for training so i can start my own business. Don't give up theirs going to be a door opening soon! Itll seem like forever but your break and everyone elses is coming!!!

I and my family live in Florida, the sad thing about living in Florida is that it is a right to work state and a lot of employers treat people very bad here in Florida, unlike other states that is not a right to work state. I had a job with a company that was having some problems receiving supplies from oversees. I was offered a better opportunity with a good company, after working a short time for this company I was laid-off. I have been trying to find a job for almost a year. I have more then 10 years of experience in the areas of Production and Warehouse Manager. The problem I am having is that I have made some mistakes in the past; another sad thing about living here is that if you get your self in any trouble with the law you will have a felony on your record for life. Here in Florida if you receive 3 or more driving tickets within 6 months that is a felony on your record for life, the reason that I know is because it happened to me. A few years ago me and my family was involved in an accident, where a drunk driver hit my car from the rear and then he tried to drive off however he did not go very far because his car stop running and when I ran over to his car he was still trying to restart his car, I put my hand through the driver side open window to take the keys out the ignition, because I put my reached into his car without his permission that is another felony on my record. The good thing the charges have been dropped however it still shows up on my record, so now when I apply for any jobs and when the employers see the word felony for what ever reason they will not give me the time or day to explain what happened, I am not a drug dealer or user, I have not raped or killed anyone can anyone please give me some advice or help me please.

I understand your frustration, these lawyers miss led you and have you signing your life away without really explaining to you what will happend when you sign and agree to the plea deal because you are a numder to them, and when a person get into trouble for the first time which alot of times these days is a felony you will agree to almost anything just to get out of trouble it is a dame shame how the system really is just try to keep your head up and most important make time to say your prayers

All we can do is look forward to a better tomorrow, and positive words of encourage help people survive during difficult times. we all need to remember that the sun doesn't always shine, nor does it rain everyday. Paul in Hollywood, Florida said: I and my family live in Florida, the sad thing about living in Florida is that it is a right to work state and a lot of employers treat people very bad here in Florida, unlike other states that is not a right to work state.

Please read my advice site.. Hope it helps. www.indeed.com/forum/gen/Career-Advice/Felons-Information-do-get-job/t157045/p1#c762396

I have had a criminal record since I was 16. I am now 31 with both State and Federal convictions. Although I only have two convictions I have been arrested for numerous charges that have all been dismissed, but it still shows up on a background check. North Carolina is very unforgiving when it comes to persons with criminal records and they also have very few resouces for this population. I am thinking about moving because I do want to obtain a degree in Nursing but I am afraid that no one will hire me if I stay here or worse, I will be denied a license. I nknow thiswaymaker and he has plans for me to prosper and not to fail so I am learning to trust and believe what HE says and not man. To everyone who writes to this blog DO NOT GIVE UP OR IN...you miracle is around the corner!

(Food for thought). smile.

I am so glad that I found this forum. I have been out of trouble for over twenty years. My faith in the Lord Jesus Christ whom I came to know while in jail has been the solid rock of my new life. Despite my committment to live a law abiding life - despite the fact that I have absolutely no desire to return to the foolish ways of my youth, I still get rejected because of my past. I am determined to outwork anyone just to show appreciation to any employer who would take a chance on hiring me. Even though I am not ashamed of my faith in the Lord, I try not to use my faith in Jesus to gain favor or to try to impress potential employers. I had rather impress them with my willing to work hard and honest.

what everyone that has a felony in this country need to do is protest.Go to Washington DC and demand the government to stop this
criminal background nonsense.I believe in the Bible and God too,but faith without works is Dead. We are the only country in the world who
holds a criminal record against a person for the rest of their lives.Hell, this country was formed by criminals. Were they forgiven? Its okay for law enforcement officials to have access to your records
but not employers. We have done our time and we need to demand that new laws come into effect to protect us from employers and the public. Most Ex-offenders are disciplined people. If a person has been clean for as least 5 years his record needs to taken out of public view. LETS GET ON THE BUS BY THE THOUSANDS AND GO TO D.C.
