Miss Britt in Atlanta, Georgia said: I have to disagree M Fairly and Mrs. Z. I recently moved to Atlanta from Texas. I had just enough saved up for two months...NO CAR...NO JOB lined up. I just moved in faith. Less than two weeks, I found a job that is conveniently located to the MARTA train station, which is conveniently located next to my apartment. And I don't live in the hood of Atlanta...very nice location. Oh, and this job isn't at McDonald's either. I have a BS degree in Business, so I was searching for reputable jobs in my qualification. I'm only 23 years old. Things are rolling just fine. I have God in His place, and He has really ordered my steps. Just because it doesn't work for one doesn't mean it won't work for all. You can't always listen to people's advice...you have to step out and do what you need to do in order to get where you want to get. Hi Ms Britt. I am relocating to Atlanta from Texas also. Can you email me? slh1913@gmail.com |

I'm not really sure about the job market in your industry. However, I am sure you can get some good leads at Monster.com, Criagslist.com, ajc.com/jobs (Atlanta Journal Constitution). Don't be scared, just make it happen. |

I think that GA is a beautiful place to raise a family and have a better quality of life. My husband and I moved her in 2007 and both found jobs, within a year and the premature birth of our son, he was let go and I had become part time in an effort to take care of my son, who requires oxygen and round the clock care. We managed through the rough patches, but he has been looking for work since last October and cannot find work. I went back to NY to work to keep our family afloat, but I can't wait to be back. I am a semester away from completing my Masters in Healthcare Management and have 10 years experience in healthcare. I am confident that once the economy starts moving in the right direction, people will start hiring again. If you are on the market for a job and want to relocate, please do not get discouraged, keep looking. |

Mrs Z in Lithonia, Georgia said: This is a tough question because Atlanta's corporate climate is peculiar. Peruse the usual Monster.com's, etc., join professional associations and network, network, network! Companies are hard on "outsiders". And this is an employer-friendly state that does not advocate for employees. If you are jobless don't come here unless you have a niche skillset -stay where you are. Transfer/relocate with your employer, sometimes this means nothing because employers are so ready to fire employees (!), or you need to be already rolling money. Amen! I agree totally. Take it from someone who moved to GA and back up north in 18 mos. It was hard to get an interview. It is more about who you know, not what you know! |

Atlanta is 1 of the top 5 most desired cities in America, but also the most boring city. Really, there's nothing to do around here. Only attraction worth visiting is the Aquarium, everything else is crap. If you look for tech job in Atlanta, it sucks. But most tech jobs are around Alpharetta. I think everyone lives around it is rich, filthy rich. |
