Newcomer's guide to Birmingham?

What do newcomers need to know to settle in and enjoy Birmingham? Car registration, pet laws, city services, more...

I recently moved here from a very small city-Evergreen-south of montgomery. I really some good tips on how to fit into with the job line and any other good tips worth having.

I would like to relocate to Birmingham.
I have a masters in global business.
Graduated in Septmber 05 and have not been
able to find a job despite the fact that this
is a very lucrative area. I have a wide experience
in international business having worked for many years
with a major international organization. I am pursuing
education in computer information system. I speak
several languages, including French.

In order to survive I became a substitute teacher.

What are my chances of getting an employer in Birmingham who will appreciate what I can offer through experience and through my education?
Are there any leads?
