Looking for a welding job

I am currently looking for a welding job but I can't seem to find one in the charlotte area but I stay here in chalotte and even if I could find one you have to have massive experince. I went to school for but i cant find a job in the field. I have very few experiences in the field but i know how to do the job. If someone can help me I would be very greatful in to giving me a chance to prove my skills yhat have learned throughout school.

Hey Jay--Have you had any luck finding welding job? I'm in the same boat--plenty of classes but no welding job experience. Let me know if you find something--I'll do the same.

I am a Stick, Tig and Mig welder. I have finished school from Carolina Energy and I have plenty of on the job experience. I have been the lead welder from the job that i just finished. Now there are no more welding to do and i got laid off 3 days ago.My Favorite is Tig on stainless but I can do it all.I am drug free and easy to get along with and i have no problem being the supervisor. I need something no more than an hour away. I have been working in Charlotte NC, but lake wyle , Clover, RockHill, York, even Sharron Sc would be good if U can help me i would appreciate it. Wow, you fellows in N.C. make pretty high wages compared to what we get here in Michigan. I am a laid off welder from a union shop and I was only making $13.00 an hour. I mig, tig & stick and would even relocate for $20.00 an hour.

hey that is nothing if your a good welder Most welders make at least $28.00 Dollars an hour plus benifits. You need to look on the web if u have no criminal record and drug free they're all kinds of jobs in virigina.Stainless steel tig welding makes the most on welding pipe.

NO KIDDING ! And do I ever know about stainless too ! I welded every one of those stainless steel exterior panels that are hung on Detroits "Motor City Casino". I'm going to check in to that right now. Thanks a million!

You can go to energy carolina westinghouse. They have a school for training in stick,mig,and tig. it's mon. thru friday 7:00 to 5:30. The program they got is great. South carolina pays for it, you pay it back out of you check. When you start you make $18. when your done paying it back after 2000 hrs you move up to $28-$30 hr but you are under a contract for 2000 hr. The 2000hrs is about one year, and you have to travel coast to coast with your own transpertation.

Go to a welders union pass the test and they have new openings all around i know of The BMW plant in gaffney.Ok hope i helpt you I know the one i went to was in concord NC the plumbing and pipe welding and fitting union. ok bye

iam a mechanic in maine and making 23.00 hour with all benys it takes me 10 mins to get to work.i weld off and on ,i can't see why anyone would want to weld 8 hours a day 5 days aweek,,,yek!

I'm a welder in GA, making 15.50 hr. working at a tool and die company. I have 6 years in mig and stick. I,m looking any where from GA,SC,NC,Virgina. I'm willing to relocate if I have too. If anyone has any info on welding jobs out there please pass it on.

It seems to me that the wages vary because many of these welding postions are being filled through temp services. Unfortunately, this has become the norm. (13.00-15.00) I am also looking to better my wages. I too, would relocate for 20.00 an hour.

Jay, have you had better luck finding a suitable job as of today? I hope there's a good paying postion for myself in the Greensboro area. I live 45 min outside of Greensboro. I weld carbon, stainless, aluminium. Tig, mig, stick, flux-core. pipe,structual etc. I love the field but the jobs seem to be scarace. hi guys--no luck here in Charlotte since last job (TIG pipe). However, if any of you are interested in an easy $100 I need someone to ride w me to VA to pick up a truck I bought at auction. Leaving from charlotte. Its about 100 miles away. Gotta do it soon though. I'd like to go Monday if I find a driver.

Anyhow we could holler about what great welders we are and kill some downtime.

I hate to tell you you will not get that price in Charlotte. Ive been a skilled welder for 30years . ther are too many skilled welders in char. for you to get that price . However if you find one that pays that please let me know .if i find one that pays that ill let you know gene cox

I am a combo welder , I am fixing to go to Maryland to work for the Shaw group. I will start out out at $26.00 an hour, if u pass welding test you make $27.50. you will get $70.00 a day per diem. It is in Poolesville, Md.

I just happened upon a job that I thought some of you may be interested in. I have no idea what the pay is or what company it is with. I found it on Craigslist/Charlotte, under skilled trade jobs. It reads: looking for a Mig and Tig Welder (location Fort Mill, SC - just south of Charlotte, NC)

I weld allmose any kinds of, stainless aluminum mild with mig.

I've applied to northrop grumman for jobs and the apprentichip program. I also applied for the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. No word yet but hoping for good news. I just moved to VA from NJ. Up in nj I attended a great welding school. I got certified AWS D1.1 then I did the peipe program. I passed to 6G bend test but my instructor said I need work on the cover pass so he didn't certify me. Any one that knows of a school in HAmpton Roads VA that does pipe welding please let me know. I've checked and haven't found one. Any other comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanx andrew

Im willing to relocate anywhere ,im in pre-pipe classes now and have 13 weeks to finish is there any guys or women out there that no of any good jobs out there as i speak.After my 13 week i will be in pipe school but im an very good welder i can pass any test,and thats because i welded before just never gotten my certificate but i can show an prove.
