I'm desperately looking for a job. I have been laid off since 2009, I have excellent office skills, I am a dedicated, reliable, hard working person in need of help finding a job. I have sent out hundreds of resume and cover letter but at age 49 and competing with the younger generation is hard I am not giving up I'm still out there looking. At this point I will take full time, part time or even temp I'm desperate and ready to get back to work. Can anybody out there help me????

I have a suggestion. You can become a Digital Court Reporter. There are states that have them. I know you can get work (almost immediately) in the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area. I think Minnesota has them. In the right locale, the pay can be quite good ($50,000 year).

Good morning Mschultz98,

Yes, I've had luck and was able to find a job this year. But, just last week I was laid off again due to business slowing down. I do have an interview with a company on the North Side today at 4:00p.m. and one tomorrow not far from where I live. I have been sending out 30 to 60 resumes a day since being laid off. Things are not as bad as people think they are, you have to have a positive mind. You have to keep going, keep sending out those resume and sooner or later you will find something out. I'll let you know how things go today so wish me luck! What type of job are you looking for maybe I can help you with your job searc! Hi Mary. Best of luck with the interview. I hope it worked out. No, I have had no luck whatsoever. I can't even get anyone to respond to my resume. I'm looking for any type of admin work. I don't have a degree, and am over 25 so I know the interest is very low. But I have tons of experience (sales, marketing, clerical, training, presenting, type over 95 wpm, etc.) but I cannot get a bite. I'm absolutely lost at this point. I have a mortgage so I can't afford to go back to school, I need to get some money generating. Any suggestions you can give, I would greatly appreciate.

Have you tried mlm? There are some mlm companies that can actually work pretty well as long as you put in the time and effort.

I am seeking Full-Time, Part-Time or Temp employment. I am experienced in All Office work, Administrative Support, Accounts Payable/Receivable. I have signed up with plenty of temp agencies, yet nothing. I just want to work. I have been tol I have an impressive resume, yet I have not landed a job. I have a solid work history. Any suggestions. Can start immediately. Preferably 1st shift Chicago Loop, South Suburbs or Southside locations, as I have to rely on public transportation.
