What are the opportunities for recreation, vacation, and just plain fun around Chico?

Chico has many opportunities for biking, hiking and in the winter snow boarding/skiing just 1 hour away at Mt. Shasta. There are many parks in town and during the spring/summer months they have a Farmers Market downtown that is just awesome. Bidwell Park is the largest private park in the Nation and is wonderful to explore. You are 3 hours from San Franscisco and should you desire to go to Souther CA you can drive to San Diego in 12-13 hours, or fly in 1 1/2 hours and rent a car. You are 3 hours from Yosemite Park and 4 hours from the Redwood forest on the northern coast of CA. Chico is surrounded by orchards of all types from rice paddies to nut trees to fruit of almost every variety. It is a wonderful place to live and be outdoors.
