It couldn't have been due to all the "classic" porn URLs and cookies found on your laptop could it? |

With all the sleaze that goes on here, I doubt porn would be a reason to let somebody go, Frankie. It was probably had more to do with how childish and back-stabbing people tend to be. Brierley has a rotating door and it's mostly because people who can't do the job are let go and the rest of us who are good at our job would jump at the first opportunity to get out of this environment. Here's hoping to a better job economy and job market this year! |

Actually, because I don't want anyone to get the wrong impression and come off as overly jaded, I'd like to state that in some ways, working at Brierley does have benefits. You learn to be a little more guarded in speaking your opinions or offering advise to others, employees who know how to negotiate or are in management positions are compensated well, and if you get any talk-time with external clients, the accompanying title-inflation (ie. "bank teller" = "client associate", which is why it's so top-heavy here) you get will help with future job searches. |

Wade in Dallas, Texas said: Kurt, I am with a I.T. Search firm in Dallas and would like to find out if this organization has any good talent in their technical area? We are always on the lookout for that good talent, including yourself. Wade, as far as IT goes, from what I've seen, there's only maybe a couple of people who actually know what they're doing. Requests to IT usually take an act of God or, at the very least, top-level management to be completed in a timely manner and even then, there are usually errors that have to be ironed out in "panic mode". I know your job is to find "good matches" of job reqs and skill sets, but you may lose some clients if you place some of our IT people elsewhere. Again, I don't want to sound harsh, but I call it as I see it. To others considering working here, I'd suggest thoroughly researching what past and present Brierley employees think of working there. You can see some people's background and experience on sites like linkedin.com. Decide if working with these backgrounds will allow you to grow your skills or if you'll become the "go-to" person, having to do most of the work. If you're looking to leave a job to come aboard, give it strong consideration. Decide if you're willing or unhappy enough to leave a known quantity for one that may be more hostile or temporary; as in, if you don't like it or get fired like Kurt, could you live off of unemployment or without salary for a while given the current economy. I can say that this is not the worst job I've had, but is a far cry from the best and, knowing what I know now, I never would have taken the position regardless of the salary increase. |

Brierley is actually a great place to work. These comments must be from sour grapes. After all, people don't tend to post anything positive on sites that are intended for b*t*h sessions. I've been here for 3 years and the turnover is the lowest I've ever seen at a company. To Heath's comment - most companies paying you to do a job would let you go if you weren't doing that job. Anyone reading this site and anticipating working for them should judge for yourself rather than listening to anonymous posts. |

As I pointed out in my comments, anyone looking to work @ Brierley should actively seek out other people working here and get feedback before making a decision (particularly in this economy). I would like to point out that the turnover *is*, in fact, higher than most other places I've worked at in the past (mid-/large corporatations), but this may be the norm for this type of industry. I've always been under the impression that smaller businesses had lower turnover. I'd also like to point out how amusing it is that the person stating what a "great place it is to work" and citing the low turnover happens to work Human Resources. |

5) Judge for yourself: I totally agree, except that it would be hard to take a position then decide against it after you left your prior job. That's why I suggested seeing input from current/former employees. I'll, once again, state that working at B+P isn't the worst fate in the world, but it also isn't for everyone. I had multiple recruiters both for and against me coming here. Though, the fact that someone in management logs in deceptively to post positively, then changes her name when caught, I think, speaks volumes. |

Interesting that my post got pulled. Just to repost what was pulled: The response from "Loyalist" should be taken with a grain of salt. The profile originally was listed as Tami Kirby, who works in HR at b+p, but was subsequently changed to Vicki Smith. Emails sent to the Vicki Smith's email address bounce because there is no Vicki Smith working here. |

Never ask HR what the "pulse" of the company is.... of course it will be a great place too work. |

I am a recent college graduate that is interested in a position at this company. Does anyone have any insight on the sas data analyst position? is the turnover high for that position? and what is the typical starting pay...oh and also, any tips to set me apart from the pack in a potential interview would be greatly appreciated. thank you. |

That's precisely why she changed her name. Any one with half a brain or who really wanted to work there would do some research before hand, including clicking the profile of a poster saying it was a great place to work, then realize during the interview process that "Gee, the person posting happens to be HR." |

The turnover has improved and the boss for that area is nice. I would suspect, though I couldn't say on experience that starting pay would be higher than at some other place. As I said, BP compensates well if you know how to game it. |

I found this old email correspondance I had about my short tenure at Brierley:
I was hired on July 30th as a unix administrator working under Judy Ford. I was told that doing backups of the company's servers using Legato would be part of my job. To that point I had only used it a few times at my previous job at Amerpath. I had never been an administrator for it but was willing to learn. During the month of August, I was also told that I was to do work on the ftp servers and to add in MAC addresses to a firewall to allow remote logins by employees. I was not given any information on how to do either of these tasks by the only other Unix administrator because he said he was too busy.

Does anyone know if Brierley & Partners HR policy includes support for employees with regard to substance & alcohol abuse? |

After reading all these posts I'm wondering if B&P HR department offers employee support regarding substance & alcohol abuse? |
