In 2001/2003 I was convicted of several felonies over several bad checks. I had lost my wife and son to a drunk driver and my job of 20 years with a major Dept store when they went out of business, I became seriously depressed, even sucidal. I was stupid.I was able to get a job with Another dept store but they were bought out by even another company and I was then fired because of the record. I have strugled since, I am 48 y/o with a college education.I am honest, clean cut and honest. Fast food wont even hire me because I was told I have too much experence and education ! I need a job ! Help! Michael |

The mentioning of both the Ban the Box bill and the second chance offenders bill is the first I heard. I am curios to know what progress has been made on these bills' or when the legislation will pass. I am a convicted felon, but i have denied the recividism rate and been free for 3 yrs august 1st, after doing a total of 10 yrs. I still have problems and would like to know if there is anything i can do to help or support this bill. |

My understanding is each State has to Pass "Ban the Box" , I would call your Governor office, local State reps ( congressman etc.) to see if they are working on this. If not request they do. Here is more info on "Ban the Box" www.drugpolicy.org/docUploads/nm_bantheboxfactsheet.pdf www.saferfoundation.org/docs/Hiring_Standards_Matrix_Final_(2).pdf |

I am a first time felon and I have yet to gain a jothat will help support me and my children. I lucked up on a job temporarily was making good money for 3mos workin 14-16 hr 7 days a week. Unfortunatly it ended I have went to school repeatedly for differnt certifications only to find that my back ground is still a problem. I'm a Cert. Medical Assistatn/Nursing Assistant Licensed Hair stylist awaiting receprocity in Texas. But I have to go back to school for 3 more months and pay almost 2000 dollars out of pocket fees in hopes that my right hand don't give out. With out insurance and money to make these things happen is sort of difficult. I held a corprate job with a temp agency for a year they wanted to hire me permanently until they found out about my background of a felony conspiracy to commit theft. I just need to know what I can do I have spent 3 years of school almost equivalent to an associated degree and am still not able to find stable permanent employment. Either your to qualified for local jobs such as Burger King or you are qualified and you are denied the job due to your 8-10y old criminal back ground. All I want is an opportunity to work and support my children I regret every day of not snitching on my co diffendent. I live with this mistake every day of my life and try to prove myself worthy of a second chance by society and even my family. I've even had two businesses that unfortunately did not work out to my favor with trying to go to school and work full time while taking care of my kids. I just fill that if I can get the opportunity to work and support I can then be more available for my kids who are home waiting on me to return. There has to be a line of right choices one choose to make but survival sometimes takes presidence of the moral thing to do. I am a survivor and I am strong and have confidence but this cycle/economy has really been taking a tole on me. Please email me lacherylhendersoncma@yahoo.com of any suggestions Please |

Hi, please tell me more about what you and your husband have to offer. I am in Austin now but would be willing to relocate if it were for a good job and a good future. I am struggling now with a crappy job that does not pay well. I recently got remarried to a wonderful woman. I am lucky in that way . If given the chance I will be a fantastic employee, I really care about what I do and the results. Thank you. Michael. five one two 525 seven 0 nine 0 |
