how do Denver dwellers cope? I would say you don't even need to 'cope' - unless you hate sunny blue skys. I moved from Denver to Seattle and miss the weather in Denver more than I could have ever imagined. Yes, there is sometimes extreme weather in Denver during the Winter months, but folks in Denver KNOW the sun will soon return. Here in Seattle, the sun returning would be a joke. It has never been here to begin with...

I lived in Denver for a year. The most amazing thing about the city is the altitude. They don't call it the mile high city for nothing. It really is a mile above sea level.

I was born in Georgia and after a year in Denver (age 18-19) my blood had become so red (because of the necessity of being more efficient at storing the thin oxygen) that when I got back to Georgia it felt like I didn't have to hardly breathe at all.

I have never been to Seattle but I love rain so I think it would be great to live there - sort of like living in London I understand.

I am a Denver native. The higher altitude is a fact, but is not particularly amazing.

Denver will experience temperature extremes to which flatlanders aren't accustomed. In the fall, it can be as cold as 25 overnight and in the 70s during the day. Many people deal with the temperature extremes by wearing layers of clothing which they peel off as the day wears on. Many people pick up colds and upper respiratory ailments during periods of temperature extremes.

Over the years, Denver summers have become warmer. I don't remember 100 degree days as a child, but they are more common now. I think winters have warmed somewhat and, overall, there is less snow. Last December's blizzards were unusual for recent years.

Denver falls are the best time of the year. There isn't much springtime as you may know it because it can snow in April and quickly segues into summer.

Hope that answers your question.
